Conditional text (if text on same line in right column, then show text on same line in left column)

I'd like to make use of the Conditional Text feature (ID CS6) (for the first time).

Concept: If text exists on the same line in my right text box, only then show text (a number increasing by one downwards) on the same line in my left text box.

This would number (on the left) all the text lines being displayed in the right text box.

Please see below and thank you all for any help.

The conditional text feature in InDesign (any version) doesn't work that way. It works by tagging text and then choosing which tagged versions you want to display.:

https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/editing-text.html#use_conditional_text

Scroll down to the "Use conditional text" section.

There may be a way to do what you want with scripting but either you would have to write the script, or negotiate to pay someone to write such a script if it doesn't already exist.

In the new forums, there is NOT a separate Scripting forum. If you need an InDesign script, you need to ask about it in THIS forum.
