Creating a scrollable InDesign document?

Community Beginner ,
Oct 16, 2017 Oct 16, 2017

Hi all,

I've created an InDesign document that I would like my audience to scroll through, versus having to click through page-by-page. It's obviously very long, to accommodate the scroll.

When I hit Publish Online, the document comes up showing the full height of the document (see image). What I need is to show the full width of the document. Otherwise it's obviously unreadable!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I appreciate it.

David

I created a document with the dimensions above and then pasted lot of picture. Then i exported the indd document to HTML. I was able to read the document. You can try this by yourself and see results.

Why not to do export PDF with scrolling view?

Hi,

what is the height of your single page document?

I doubt exporting to pdf would help when compared to publish online

Hi Aman,

The document is 11 inches wide and 180 inches long. (Crazy, I know.)

Most formatting I've tried defaults to the length of the document, not the width. I'm assuming there's a function for Publish Online that will allow me to default to the width of the document.

Honestly, re-reading this, I'd say your best bet is a single page website.

Personally, I'd do it with WordPress but you can do some nice stuff with Muse, too.

Hi,

I agree with Bob. Your file largely is all images with little text formatting.. a simple web page should solve your problem.

What about zooming so that the scroll bar comes?

Thanks George.

I don't see scrolling view in the PDF export options. Is it in the Interactive options or Print options?

You can pay extra and license in5 for just teh month you use it, if you only need it for say one job.

You can try this: http://ajarproductions.com/scroll/

But that would require the entire page to be in a scrolling frame so make sure to test thoroughly.

When I export the document using Export > HTML I lose all the formatting in the InDesign document. But when I export using Export HTML5 with in5 > Continuous Scroll (Vertical), all the formatting is preserved.

This is the solution I was looking for! Thanks to all of you for your help.
