Creative cloud files not loading in indesign

In indesign only, creative cloud assets are not loading in, if they are in a folder within the library.

No other apps are having this issue.

Have rebooted the pc running windows 11

Have uninstalled indesign including prefs and reinstalled.

Problem presists, top level images in a library load, but the folders are empty:

Image here implies the folders are empty, they are not if I open in illustrator the folder contents is there.

Would really like to just get on with work, rather than fighting this app all the time.

Make sure to update to the latest Sonoma - macOS 14.4 - even though I don't think it will affect your particular issue (but 14.3 fixed all kind of InDesign issues on Sonoma).

I also note that libraries are no longer syncronising. In all other adobe apps they are in indesign they are not, IN one library I have 12 itrems in the other apps, in indesign there is only 4.

This is a disaster for me, I soley use libraries for links.

It would be worth it to try restoring your InDesign preferences and caches if the libraries are working OK in your other applications. Here's how:

OK Narrowing this down. The bug is very specific. It will show four items from the top level of the library, and noi more.

To clarify, the library items do show correctly in another application like Illustrator, or Photoshop?

If that is the case, try what I suggested.

Arrow 1 file is what indesign sees, arrow 2 file is what illustrator sees.

This looks like a good old fashioned bug to me. Resets and reinstall have no effect.

Preference reset and indeed total reinstall does not solve the issue.

I wanted to chime in with an update, I seem to have gotten my libraries working again by adding the Adobe CC app to the allow list on my macs firewall settings per my IT departments guidance. So far it seems to have worked. For those working on MacOS here are the steps i did to allow it:

  • Open Settings
  • Select Network and then click on Firewall.
  • Look for Creative Cloup.app in the list of apps with special permissions.
  • If CC isn't listed, cClick the small + sign beneath the list of app settings.
  • Locate and open the Adobe Creative Cloud folder.
  • Select the Adobe Creative Cloud app and choose Open.
  • Set the app to Allow Incoming Connections.

hopefully it helps someone else.

No my instructions were for MacOS, i didnt have two versions of the app to add to my firewall. Best of luck in trying to whitelist the program on windows firewall if thats the case, but it may not be the issue for you.

I just tried your method on my MacOS and had no luck...Libraries in Illustrator are still not working as they should. Sometimes I can get them to reset if I sign out of the Creative Cloud and sign back in...but that needs to be done multiple times daily. So frustrating as it just started happending over the past couple of months...was rock solid for a year before that!

I gave up in the end, download CC cleaner tool. What does that actually do? It left loads of crap behind. So I had to delete adobe from roaming, local, Programme Files and Programme Files X86. Restarted, reinstalled and boom everything is back. What a complete waste of my time. Still please, take another 130 quid  this month.
