data merge is placing a "¬" negation symbol ("logical NOT" symbol) in front of £ sign

Hi - in the CSV file its "£100" - after the inDesign data merge it changes to "¬£100". Obviously there are workarounds, ie uses a static "£" and remove it from the CSV file OR do a find and replace of "¬" after the data merge. Be good to get it working without that happening.
