Exporting to pdf, but it never shows up

I have been trying to export a PDF from InDesign, but it won't appear. I've waited a long time and there are no error messages, just nothing happens. I'm able to export to jpg. I tried resetting the preferences, but there was no difference. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried using the InDesign Adobe PDF Presets to produce your PDF?

Double check the location where you've saved your PDF.

Tick "View PDF after Exporting".

Export again and look carefully at the directory, where the file is put. It may not be the destination you think it should be...

As Derek Cross suggests, simply tick "View PDF after Exporting".

I had the case when images where not correctly present it may be that the PDF creation fails without message. We had a system swapping out "old" files and replacing by a link. That was a mess, because the system could not swap-in the files fast enough. So Indesign stopped PDF creation without a message.

Hi, I just got off chat with Adobe regarding this.
I had a rogue image in my Links panel (under Pages).
The image was listed there but did not have a page it was linked to.
Removed the image and the pdf ran just fine.

The chat tech suggested I put all images in one folder which they were but the one rogue image is what was holding up the export to pdf.

Your experience reminds me why I love the Preflight panel. It hunts those missing images and lets you know about it in advance.
