You state you want to be able to click in a box in InDesign and open a PDF – you will need a final output format to be able to distribute the document. Have a look at the InDesign Publish Online feature. What kind of interactivity do you want your PDF to have?

Hi Hong Welcome to this friendly forum. Please note you are not addressing Adobe on here, it's a user-to-user support forum. Re your crashing issue, like Ged, I've just tested it too and had no issues. Have you reset the Photoshop preferences as suggested, if so, did that resolve the issue? If not indicate your (exact) version of your Operating System, how much RAM you have and how much spare hard disk capacity.

Right, so we've established you're using InDesign's Publish Online facility. Does the Publish Online upload issue happen with just one document or all such documents? (if you have only one document, create an addition simple test doc to see if the same issue occurs with that as well) Does the original doument have large size images /videos?

Presumably your printer is not a duplex printer. It's always difficult to register a correct backup just by turning over the sheet.

Another way of finding the issue is dividing the document in half. If one half opens without any issue, but the other half crashes, divide that half again and repeat the process until you (hopeflly!) isolate the issue.

Try setting your page spec with no documents open: File > Document Setup. You can also specify your default font, size, leading etc with no documents open then closing and reopening the doc.

Check with your tutor that it's acceptable, I would suggest you use InDesign's Publish Online facility. If you know InDesign, it's relatively easy to create reliable interactive documents that can be read on PCs, Macs, Tablets and Smart Phones. And it's free with InDesign and you can include a link on your website. You can even include a facility to enable users to download a (static) PDF version.

It might be worth trying to reset the Photoshop settings back to the factory defaults using the manual method to see if that does anything. Launch Photoshop and quickly hold down the following keys: Mac OS: Shift+Control+Option+Command When prompted to delete the Preferences, click Yes (If you don't see the question repeat the exercise.)

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have? You download images that are open in Photoshop using the various Save facilities – File Save /Save As / Save a Copy (or for web use: File > Export). For uploading it's: File > Open. If you can't use any of these you may have a corrupt file or an incompatible format. You may also have an issue with Photoshop that may be resolved by resetting the preferences back to the factory defaults which you can do under the Genera tab in Photoshop Settings.
