Hi, I suggest you report this bug to https://indesign.uservoice.com
Also, I usually quickly fix this type of issue using the software workspace feature.

Hi, thanks for the advice. I use the workspaces of course, but they all get messed up.

Would be much better, if there was a way to flag
my comment as a "bug-report", so i dont have
to spend too much time in explaining over and over again.
I have a lot of trouble with Adobe since the M1 Mac
came out. Even Acrobat had great issues.

Hi there,
Sorry for the trouble. Would you mind telling us the version of InDesign installed on your machine and the details of your operating system? Is it possible for you to share a screenshot of the window moving up? As you mentioned, does that happen with other Adobe apps like Illustrator and Acrobat?
We will try our best to help.
Thanks,
Harshika

Hallo Harshika,
i always use the lastest Version of InDesign (atm: v19.3).
I use an Mac Studio (M1 Max)
64 GB Ram
macOS Sonoma v. 14.3.1
two Displays: BenQ PD3200Q
I only use one screen for my tool-windows
in InDesign. Therefore i don't know if
Illustrator etc. have this issue.
The screenshot shows, how the windows
stack up in between the both screens.
Sometimes the tool-windows are
all stacked up on the right screen, almost
outside the screen.
This is super annoying, because every time
my Mac goes into sleep, i have to re-arrange
all the tool-windows.

Still not working. I don't think that this is a
problem of the OS.
I tested Illustrator now.
As you see, Illustrator doesn't have
this issue. It's a bug within InDesign.

Edit:
In Illustrator the tool-windows where
also displaced now. They where all
stacked up far left on the left screen.
It's interesting that the tool-windows
are always spread randomly.
sometimes on the left screen,
sometimes on the right one.
Sometimes right in the middle
of both screens.

Also the tool-windows in Illustrator
are all over the place.

There is an easy way to reproduce or demonstrate
whats happening to the windows.
If you use at least two monitors and have
the tool panels on one monitor,
press Command+F1 (on the Mac).
This will mirror the two windows
and the panels will be stacked up
in between the two displays.
Maybe thats what is happening,
when the Mac is going into
sleep mode.

So, ich komme aus meiner Mittagspause,
entsperre meinen Mac und muss feststellen,
dass wieder alle Tool-Windows in Indesign
verschoben sind.
Ich finde es ja prima, dass man nun
Benutzereinstellungen exportieren u.
importieren kann, nur muss da
InDesign jedes Mal neu gestartet werden.
Ich arbeite gerade an einem über 170 Seiten
starken.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this frustrating issue. To better understand what's happening, does InDesign freeze when your system wakes from sleep, causing the panels and windows to get stuck, making them impossible to move?
If possible, could you screen record the issue? Additionally, could you share your InDesign and OS version, along with your system details, the make & model of your monitors, and their resolution?
This information will help us assist you more effectively.
Best,
Anshul Saini

Still have this issue after the newest update.
That's almost unbelievable.
Is it really so hard to save the coorinates of
the tool-windows and recall them after
the mac comes out of sleep-mode?
They implemented a function to export
my user settings, which is actually good,
but why do i have to restart the whole
program? That's nothing i like to do
if i have troubles with the tool-windows,
while i have opened several files.

Hi @derAktive,
I understand how frustrating this issue must be, especially when you're trying to maintain your workflow. It sounds like this could be a bug related to how Adobe apps handle window positions after the Mac goes to sleep.
You can find more information and report this issue in the following thread:
Window and Panels Moving When Mac Goes to Sleep - UserVoice
Please check if this issue resonates with your experience. If so, I encourage you to comment and share a screen recording in those threads. This will help us communicate the issue to the product team effectively.
Thank you for your patience as we work on this, and I hope we can find a resolution soon!
Best,

@Abhishek Rao You direct us to a Uservoice topic... that is closed! We can not add anything there my friend, it is useless 😖 you've done it again...
InDesign 2025 v 20.01 STILL resets its panels after waking from sleep when you use dual displays.
It is NOT fixed!!

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I apologize for directing you to an outdated UserVoice topic. I appreciate your patience and thoroughness in highlighting that the issue with panels resetting after sleep on dual displays remains unresolved in InDesign 2025 v20.0.1.
I will check with the product team for an update on this matter and follow up with any new information or progress. In the meantime, please rest assured that your feedback is being taken seriously, and I will ensure it reaches the appropriate channels.
Thank you again for your valuable input and continued support.
Best,
Abhishek Rao

Try to toggle GPU Performance in Preferences.
Also, what are your InDesign and macOS versions?
