Question

Files opening and appearing from top left corner (?)

New to CC...

I just noticed that some of my ID files open in a weird way: appearing from the top left corner and then filling the screen.  However, other ID files open in the normal way - just appearing and filling the screen instantly.

Anyone got any idea what's going on here? This only started happening yesterday. It seems like random behaviour.

Thank you!

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. You can share screenshots or screen recordings by following the steps shared here https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/screen-record-an-issue-on-windows-amp-macos-for-sharing/td-p/12967734

We'll also need the version of InDesign and operating systems.

Regards

Rishabh

A screenshot of the undesired behavior vs. desired behavior would help.

Aslo, check/change your settings at Preferences > Interface > Panels > Open Documents as Tabs, and/or Enable Floating Document Window Docking

Sorry I don't know how to record my screen and show how my files opening like this.
Some files are basically appearing from small, in the top left corner, and then enlarging and filling the screen, downwards towards the bottom right.

I've not changed any setting and this has suddenly started happening.
Other files just open normally and fill the screen instantly, and not in motion from the top left.

Try exporting one of the problem files as an IDML (File>Export>Choose InDesign Markup (IDML) under the Format: option). Then reopen the new IDML file in your current version of InDesign and resave it as a regular InDesign file. This process can remove minor corruption in a  file. If what is happening is the result of file corruption then this could possibly fix the issue.
