Files opening as [Read-Only] on Mac

Indesign files open as [Read-Only] and the only way you can save the file is to save it somewhere else or save it with a different name and then delete the old file?

There seems to be a workaround for windows

but is there a workaround for Mac?

I'll sometimes have this issue when - in finder - double-clicking on an .indd file that is on a server, but if the file opens up as read only, I'll make a minor change and then REVERT from the File Menu, and the reverted copy opens up fine. Usually happens if the file is a larger file and takes some time to open. The other thing I try to do is after I've double clicked the .indd file in finder, I'll single click somewhere in the folder so that the .indd itself is no longer selected, sometimes that makes a difference too.

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Some application might be (still) "analysing" INDD file - effectively "locking it" in the system - so InDesign opens it as read-only.

What OS and InDesign versions?

What is the hardware configuration of your machine?

Do you have full writing rights to the folder?
