How to Hide text outside page edge in InDesign?

I'm looking to do something simple. I want to simply hide parts of text that fall outside the edges of a page. I have a file where this has been done but can't seem to duplicate it on another file. I've pasted a sample of what I'm trying to do.

Are you viewing that other file in the Preview mode maybe?

You can always put a [Paper] filled frame above the text to act as a mask...

This would be useful to cut off text in the page margin, but as @Willi Adelberger points out, text outside the trim size of the page is going to be cut off in trimming.

If this is a parent/master page object, the text frame needs to touch the page for it to show on other pages.

However, if you mean on a PDF, make sure you set a bleed in your export settings big enough to include it, otherwise it will be clipped off.

Why do you bother? Objects outside the bleed frame are cut off and not exported to the PDF.
