Hi all! I'm working on a huge catalog file that I did not create. The master pages are full of greeking. It takes me forever to spell check because of these pages. Is there a preference I can set to skip spell checking the master pages? Thanks.

The easiest way is to apply no language to that text.

As Bob put, at the top of the language settings for text you can select 'No Language' and spell check will skip any text with this setting.

Oh this is so great! Thank you both so much! You've saved me lots of time and hassle. I REALLY appreciate it. I figured there was a way. I just didn't know how to do it.

It's also great when you are still using placeholder text or Lorem Ipsum in parts of your layout but still need to spell check it. Just remember to change it back to the appropriate language and spell check prior to exporting/packaging for production/printing.

Why not add a "Skip Master Pages" option?

Yes I agree, the option to Skip Master pages, and/or to Skip anything on the Pasteboard, would be wonderful.

OMG. I have been working in InDesign for two decades and did not know this feature. I work with countless lists of names which make me crazy when I need to spellcheck a big doc. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. You have just saved me sooooo much time. Mind BLOWN.
