Hi
I have a text file which contains text in Urdu/Arabic. When I import that file useing Place option, it places it by default in minion pro font and the display is junk (red square boxes wtih x in it).
I then create a para style and apply on the text. There is no change. I am using Adobe Arabic font in the style.
What needs to be done?
I have attached the screenshot and the text file.
Thanks
The original text file is causing confusion for InDesign. I usually "Place" Arabic files into InDesign, I don't cop/paste them. However, Placing the file with "Show More Options" on and trying all Arabic related settings didn't work.
I ended up opening original file (I use Mac), in Text Edit application, I applied a right alignment to the text and applied "Arial" font to the whole text since this font contains multi lingual glyphs, then saved the file as Rich Text Format, the result was good in

@Willi Adelberger is correct.
Also make sure you have selected the Adobe World Ready Composer on the Control Panel menu:

@Willi Adelberger @Steve Werner Unfortunately that did not work. It shows red boxes. I have attached the screenshot. World ready paragraph composer is already selected. Direction is RTL. Font is Adobe arabic.
If I copy from the txt file and paste in Indesign, it works. But I want to use Place command instead of pasting.

@Willi Adelberger @Steve Werner Ok. I was able to place the text.
In order to place the text from txt file, I had to "Save As" the file in "UTF-16 BE" from notepad.
Is there a better way ?
Thanks

Try it, but just watch out for the numbers in case they were inverted or anything.

@Zaid Al Hilali Thanks for the reply. RTF files are not a problem. I was looking for a method for txt files.
Thanks.
