Just started using ID 2025 this morning and I'm noticing a LOT of lag time with pretty much any activity. I'm running a Mac Studio with an M2 Ultra, so it's not my computer. I've tried some simple troubleshooting but it is simply not responding like ID 2024. Help!

Hi @Bigwig:
I'd start by rebuilding preferences:
https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/
If that doesn't work, I would just go back to the version you were working on before the update. It's usually a good idea not to update to a .0 release. Let someone else go through this pain and report the issues and update again after it the .1 release is out.
Also, you may not know this, but you can have more than one version installed on your computer. I kee
...A couple of things that have helped -
1. Turn off Preflight: Window/Output/Preflight. Unfortunately, they don't give us the option for it to be off by default so you'll have to remember to turn it off every document you open.
2. Turn off Font Previews: On a blank screen go to Preferences/Type/Type Options/ uncheck the box for "Enable in-menu Font Previews" then Restart InDesign to "make it so!"
So far, these have helped. I'm on Macbook M1 Pro with Sequoia 15.0
Hi! For me, disable/hide contextual bar might have solve the lack of response ! Maybe because InDesign is always updating this window as you change tool or click on something…

Same issue here. Resetting prefs only works for a short amount of time before the issue returns. This is after doing a full reformat of my Mac recently and reinstalling all the software fresh. There is clearly an issue with this version. Going to save idml versions of any files I have been working on in 2025 and reverting back to 2024 until this is fixed.

Also here. Please, could you explain that to me? You don't need to have your own preferences for the Indesign? Or after the deleting them, you manually set them all again? It took me about a single day (!) to set the application up, when I started to use it. So really there is no other option than to loose this day again for it? Or I don't understand.... Thank you.

If you're referring to Pallets layout - you can save it as a Workspace.
Text / GREP Find&Change can be saved as well.
Please let us know what else would you like to preserve.

Yes, but, I did it for more than 24 hours. You don't? I don't understand. IThere must be the possibility to solve it otherwiste than to setup all these preferences over and over every week, for example!!!

Is there really so many people who don't work with Indesing profesionally, so they don't need to manage all these setup? Or I miss something and to reset preferences means something else?

These are preferences. All of them are crucial for my work. So the only possibility to make Indesign work normally is to delete them? How you can work without your own setup? Or do you mean something else by "preferences"? Like this, it's all much slower than Indesign CS6 I used before. I can't belive it. The work is almost impossible.

I know it's a bit "too late" for you now, but after reseting preferences and setting all options - you can copy/ZIP whole folder with all the settings to be able to restore it later.
I assume, you work on a Mac?
PC users don't experience such often profile corruptions...

Thank you very much for your reply. But how I can ZIP it, from where? But mainly also, what's the point to restore the preferences, assuming some of them is slowing the Indesing, and to put them again into the software? It seems, it can speed it up, if it stays the same after it? Would it be better to know what preference is slowing it down and why? Yes, I am working on Mac. I was warking on an old iMac wild old Indesign and now I'm trying to work on new iMac M4 with new Adobe 2025 and everything is just a disaster....

I'm sorry, but I've never experienced problems with corrupted preferences - but both links provide detailed explanation.
But, if you want to keep your sanity - you should rather go back to 2024...

Thank you. I will check it after the month of work because I really don't have time for this while working. Which is absurd. Why it's so difficult with an annual payment when it was so easy and working with all older version? I would expect improvement, not going back to the trees with new versions! 😞 But thank you for the links. I will check them. It never happened, problems like this, with standard lifetime software.

I can only imagine your frustration - no problems like that on Windows.
Of course, it's not all Adobe's fault.
Magnet app was wrecking havoc right after 2025 version has been released.
Then there is MacOS on its own.

It's not Magnet that's the problem, it's InDesign not correctly reporting window position to the OS. We need native frame like Photoshop.

It seems to work, thanks, but now I have to go back and redo all my preferences and key commands. Why on earth can't Adobe test these things fully before pushing updates?

After you reset everything and rebuild them, make copies of the clean files. That way, you can simply replace them next time.
BTW, custom keyboard shortcuts and workspaces are not part of preferences--they are in the other folders. So you have potentially three files to backup.

This only seems to work for a short amount of time. Within an hour or so the issue returns. I can't keep resetting preferences to keep working. Adobe needs to fix this issue properly.

Can you explain that for me, please? I need my preferences to work. I did setup how lashes have to be magnetic etc. etc. (I hope you understand and these are correct English names). What's the point in restart it, when I need it? You don't need to have your own, special setup in Indesign? By clicking this you loose it all... Or? Thank you for the explanation.

everything. These are leashes. But it's just an example. Here for example
very important to have more than 2 in leashes options, otherwise it doesn't
attach the leashes at all... Etc. When I do what you suggest, I loos all
these already done setup... So what's the point?
