InDesign- Activating on New Computer

New Here ,
Oct 06, 2017 Oct 06, 2017

I deactivated InDesign on one computer to put it onto a new one, but there was no space for me to input the serial number to register InDesign on the new computer. I even tried downloading a trial version of InDesign because I heard that there would be a place for me to input the serial number (for some reason, there wasn't). Also, even though I do have InDesign registered, when I go onto the Creative Cloud desktop apps page to download InDesign, I am told to "Buy Now" for InDesign. How can I activate InDesign on my new computer. I have looked at several other forums with similar questions but none were helpful.

I am using InDesign CS6. I have tried on two new computers (neither of them have given me the option of entering a serial number). Both of them were Macs. The one I am currently using is a macOS Sierra.

Are you signed into the Creative Cloud app with same account you originally used to start your subscription?

Have you tried signing out and signing back in again?

I have tried to signing in and out to Creative Cloud with the same account as the subscription.

I am not using Creative Suite.

InDesign CS6 was the last Creative Suite version of InDesign, but it can also be download via the Creative Cloud as part of your subscription. It sounds like that's what you're trying to do.

So you have the Creative Cloud app installed and you're logged into your account.

In the Creative Cloud app can you expand InDesign and see InDesign CS6? (like in the screenshot below)

That's where it "should" say Install (mine says Open because I already have it installed). You're saying it says Buy Now there instead?

I'm having exactly the same issue as dianek67333324.  And yes, instead of "install" it says "try".

Was this problem ever resolved?

Thanks,

Sure! There was never a problem. Creative Cloud does not come with a serial number. All you need to do is to sign in with your Adobe id. Help->Sign in.

I guess my problem isn't the same - I had downloaded an earlier version of Indesign CS6, without creative cloud, and when I sign into my adobe account, I see it in my "plans and products" with the serial number, but no way to download the software onto my new computer (Mac OS High Sierra).  Trying to download Indesign through creative cloud doesn't do anything - the only options are "try" or "buy now"...

CS6 is not supported under High Sierra! You'll need to move to CC or find an old computer to run it on.

Hi,

Serial number? Are you using Creative Suite?

The one you are downloading from the Adobe website today is the CC version of InDesign which is not part of the Creative Suite package.
