Hi
I've been working in InDesign for a week now and since yesterday I started noticing that at times InDesign won't undo and I am not able to save my file. I keep hitting command + s while working but it just doesn't save or give an error message. If I go on the File menu all the save and save as commands are grayed out. If you close the file and click on the save button InDesign just gives a message that the file cannot be saved. I have to close the file without saving and redo all the work. Because InDesign doesn't give an error when pressing command + s I would do a lot of work under the impression everything gets saved but it doesn't and I keep losing a lot of work.
Also CC runs very slow. There are times when the program just "freezes" for awhile while InDesign does somethings in the background and only after it is done you can start working again. The pages panel takes ages to load the previews onto the pages and while it is doing so I cannot do anything at all.
Starting to think I should have stayed with CS6.

Gave it a try but alas, I'm still having issues.
Very very simple document.

I had this issue with a document. Specifically drilled it down to an imported image on my desktop. I saved it (the problem link) in a variety of file formats and nothing helped. I exported to IDML opened the file in ID CC and embedded the offending object in the links panel saved the document and everything worked as expected. So perhaps try exporting to IDML > Opening > Embedding any linked files then try saving. Good luck.

Hello Bob,
I have been using Indesign CC for the past 3 weeks and have been having issues collecting and packaging my files for print. I keep getting an error saying "Fonts are not able to be located". I have groomed my links eliminating any invaild characters and keep their names short but I still get the error any suggestions, can I give you some more info for you to come about a resolve. Thanks for your help.

Having same issue Save/Save as become disabled while working on a file. Undo also seems to disable itself. Trashing Preferences seems to work. Have yet to run the script. One item for other designers stuck that worked for me so you don't have to lose work. Export as an idml - that still seems to work fine at all times.
Mac OS 10.7.5, Indesign CC 9.0

You did turn off the InDesign Sync setting preferences and not the creative
cloud file and font sync? Just checking.
Hope you get yours to work. Mine is still "working" x-fingers.

Has there been a proper solution to this problem as yet. Its casuing no end of grief, cannot save and cannot undo, farely fundamental issue for a new programme, having to move back onto old platform

Ever since I turned off my sync settings preference to none it has worked
for me. Not a complete fix but it worked.

Did that, not perfect still no undo function. I am being told by support that its to do with non adobe fonts, for a design agency and designers you could not in all reality use only adobe fonts, simply unworkable. This to me is a massive fundamental flaw with the programme not a minor one. We have turned it off and are back to working on tried and tested after losing 3 days of work to it.

Who at Adobe would give you such a ridiculous reason? Are you still talking to level-one idiots reading from a script who've never even seen an Adobe product?

Its patently dumb that a design platform has to work for designers, but I thought theres no point arguing he's just reading what he's got. Pretty disappointed in the whole affair, I'm used to bugs but this ones fundamental, dont trust the programme now. Think Adobe need to have a solution to it pronto.

Adobe is well aware that some users are still having issues. The biggest problem is that the few that are left are very hard to duplicate. I'm not minimizing your issues at all and they really need to do something about some of these level 1 phone "support" people.
I'd rather hear "I don't know" than the nonsense some of them give out.

I've given up on "level one" support. The problem persists here for us although it's intermittent. I thought that an official Adobe person would have commented here by now given the number of people who have posted here. I'm sure there are many more who have not bothered.
The above tips were all helpful and I'm grateful for the support of my peers (and betters). However, we're forced to use CS6 on certain projects. This is not okay.
Thanks Bob Levine, for letting us know that "Adobe is well aware". I had my doubts.

I really like it when they tell me to come here and ask.

Count me in on this.. still have to export IDML files, not able to save to INDD directly.
Excuse my venting: This f...-up is even major for Adobe standards. And this is going on for what, 1-2 months already? Unbelievable. My Acrobat XI crashes everytime I click on an embedded comment. I can't save InDesign files. The german hyphenation produces 1-2 errors in each paragraph. And so on. Well. But at least we got you on Creative Cloud to optimize our cash flow, didn't we.
Sorry. Not the place for that, but .. I've had more frustration with Adobe products than anything else (including Windows in the past 5-6 years.. 🙂 ) in the past 5-6 months.

I have just started having the exact same issue. Although I haven't been able to find a permenent solution I have found what causes it and a way to save even after this happens.
- Draging images in from finder and/or bridge will result in a grey out of all command key related commands. This includes Undo, Redo, Save, Save as etc.
- If you find yourself with the issue you won't be able to save ALTHOUGH you can still export. By the look of it you can retain all information by saving your document as a IDML (In Design Markup). Once you export, open the document and then save as a standard .INDD file if you want.
I don't have a tablet installed on the machine that I run Indesign on so I can't guarentee that tablets won't cause this issue.

I have been experiencing this same problem since upgrading to CC from CS6 a few months ago. I work on a 2009 MacPro with a dual quad-core and 14GB of RAM, running 10.9.
I experience:
1) inability to undo
2) inability to save
3) inability to edit frame contents from links panel
I have tried turning off file synching and that seems to have worked very well for a while. However, I tried using a modified keyboard shortcuts file the other day and the problem arose once more despite the "fix" that had been working nicely.
This will happen on legacy files as well as new files created in CC.
Exporting the stuck file to IDML has worked well but this happens so often when working on a file that it is not a working option.

Just to add myself to the list:
Same problem here on my MacBookAir, didn't try to replicate it on the MacPro in the office so far, where I mostly still use CS6. Wacom drivers for Intuos/Bamboo installed (but no active tablet attached at the time).
Undo/Save-Failure after dragging images from Finder and/or Bridge.
Restoring preferences, switching of SYNC and so on didn't work. Contacted the very friendly support and wait for some hopefully good news.
