Hi
Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I'm using InDesign CC 2019 and have created two separate documents. These were both created whilst being signed in to Creative Cloud. Neither document will open without being signed in and I receive this pop up box. I need to email both documents to a friend who I assume, will be greeted by the same message when they try to open the files. Is there something I'm missing here, or a workaround?
Any help will be really, much appreciated.
Thanks
Anthony.
Open the CC Desktop App and sign in.
If you're already signed in, then sign out and then back in.
And your assumption is incorrect. This has nothing to do with the files themselves, just your local account.

Thanks for replying.
I followed what you said, but still get the same pop up box.
If my friend has a Creative Cloud account this will resolve this issue, yes?

Hi AnthonyP:
If you have exceeded the 7-day free trial period on that computer, you will have to have a valid subscription and be signed in to continue using InDesign CC. Are you saying that you have a CC subscription and that you are signed in with your Adobe ID? Have you tried signing out, rebooting the computer and signing back in? (Reboot because that message means that a dialog box is open that is preventing InDesign from opening the files. It's not what I would expect to see if you are simply not signed in.)
If your friend has a valid CC subscription and is signed in they should be able to open the files that you created.

I'm on a paid monthly subscription.
Rebooting my MacBook hasn't resolved it. I still get the same pop up box when not signed in to Creative Cloud if -
(a) Trying to open the specific document
(b) Trying to open the InDesign application.
All I want is my friend to be able to open up the files once I've emailed them.

You've been told twice what to do and that what you're seeing has nothing to do with what anyone with a CC subscription will be able to do.
Please tell us what part of that is unclear and perhaps we can clear it up for you.

They say “three is a charm”, so I’ll join in.
You must be signed in to use Creative Cloud applications. You can work off-line, but you cannot work on that device when you sign out.
You can send the file from the Finder (or Windows File Explorer) and the other person can open it from a device where they are signed in.

Yes, I have figured that out now, thanks.
As I said in a previous reply, I have to email the documents to another person and I just want them to be able to open, view and save them. I asked if they would need a CC account to do this?

Hi Anthony:
I asked if they would need a CC account to do this?
Your friend will need to install the free, 7-day trial version of InDesign CC—or have a paid subscription—to be able to open and edit the files.
If you just want them to see the files, export to PDF and send those files over. Then they can use a free copy of Adobe Reader.

Thanks Barb
that's what I needed to know (and had figured so).
They need the INDD files not PDFs, otherwise I wouldn't have come on here with my questions.
thanks again.

You must be signed in to use InDesign.
