InDesign Share for Review links not working

Community Beginner ,
Oct 01, 2025 Oct 01, 2025

Anyone else having issue with InDesign review links not working today? I have sent out a few and reviewers are getting this message. Other programs seem to be working fine.

Works fine again - Thanks.
But now the link is named: "Your Work"
Earlier it was: "Files | Adobe"

Yes, but in weird ways. Collaborators in San Diego, CA and Pittsburgh, PA can open the links with no errors. However, collaborators in Houston, TX and Gulfport, MS cannot. We've all cleared cache and cookies. Those of us who still get the 404 have also restarted our computers. 4 of us are on Macs—2 can see it; 2 cannot. The one on Windows cannot.

Hello, we are still experiencing issues with all of our current review links and receiving the Error 404 message.

I was also having issues, just updated InDesign and the review link comments seems to be pulling through again in the in-app panel - might be worth a shot for others

That hasn't worked for me or one of my colleagues. Restarting didn't work either.

Had a CC update when I walked in this morning. Fingers were crossed that the 404 error was fixed. Thats a BIG fat NOPE! Please fix. We are a publishing company and we use this daily for proofing.

WORKAROUND:
1. Create your PDF of all pages from InDesign.
2. Go to Google Drive.
3. Click  +New in the upper left.
4. Click File Upload and choose the file to upload.
5. Doubleclick the file to view. Click the the 3 vertical dots and choose Open in new tab. Go to that tab.
6. In the upper right, click Share and paste the email addresses addresses. Be sure to set each user as Editor.
7. Click Send.

Features:
- To leave a comment, you can doubleclick on text and a + icon pops up. Click on the icon and leave a comment.
- OR, click the + icon in the top right, draw a box on the error and leave a comment.
- You can update the same link, and comments will stay put. To do that...
       - Update your InDesign file and re-export the PDF.
       - Go back to your Google Drive and find the file on the Home screen of Google Drive.
       - There, click the vertical 3 dots on that file --> File information --> Manage versions.
       - Click Upload new version and upload your updated PDF.
       - Go back to the link, refresh and you see the new PDF!
- On a comment, you can click the checkmark to resolve the comment. It disappears from view, but is not gone forever. Click the 3 vertical dots at the top and choose Show Inactive Comments to see anything that has been resolved. You can toggle that off/on.

This is helping my team -- I hope it helps yours!

But, those comments don't come back into my InDesign document when they comment, do they? That was the advantage of SFR, they pop up in my InDesign document.

No, unfortunately not. But it is a similar way to at least keep working, especially if you are not far along in the process. I feel for the folks who said they had multiple comments on an existing link that they can no longer access.

I am still getting a 404 for all of my share review links. Can someone help and let me know when this might be fixed? This is holding up our deadlines and our clients are not happy.

If it helps - I've looked into a workaround:
Export PDF - acrobat share for review is working with URL links!

That's what we did yesterday with a few other projects...but it doesnt help my current project that has over 100 comments and the team needs to see those comments and respond. This is a nightmare!

I did this with a PDF today and the review link from Acrobat wouldn't open. Seems this problem may exist beyond just InDesign.

The editors and I cannot open the links, but some authors from other countries can. This looks like a DNS problem or something similar. We are in Spain.

This issue should also be shown on the Adobe Status page so we know that it's a universal known problem and not an in-house issue. We spent ages trying to fix this internally last week as the Status page was showing no issues.

Yup, broken again. Ours stopped working for a time last week (October 1-2). Fixed by October 2 a.m. But all links throwing 404s now.

I am still getting the

"Error 404: Asset not found This asset isn’t available. Try checking the URL or visit a different page" Error message no matter what I try (creating new link, redownloading InDesign, resharing). Is the feature supposed to be working?

I'm having the same problem TODAY (October 7). I spent an hour on chat with Adobe with them suggesting I clear MY cache and cookies (even though I'm not opening in a browser, it's my collaborators who get the Error 404). After an hour, I was told it was a known issue and that Adobe was working on it. If your issue was October 1 and mine is happening October 7, I'm assuming they haven't fixed it yet. Note to Adobe: Pin known issues at the top of tech support's screens so it doesn't take an hour for the customer to find out it's on Adobe's side and they're working on it. Time is money and I've wasted a lot today with this issue.
