@Claire36486004gk4w It does say on MathType website: MathType integrates seamlessly with InDesign, allowing you to insert equations directly into your documents and apply formatting options such as font size, color, and alignment. If you work in education sector, you could be entitled to a 20% discount.

But, have you thought of using Microsoft Excel? If you're already know and work with Excel formulas, this approach would requires no learning curve. And I do know you can easily import an Excel document into InDesign!

There are a couple of past posts with regards to MathType:

@Robert at ID-Tasker If the user knows how to use Microsoft Excel using formulas, they can either import or even place the spreadsheet into Excel.

@creative explorer

I think too much extra work involved?

AND you won't have baseline info - so you will need to position all equations manually...

I just looked it up because of his comment. Excel has the ability to create mathmatical/scientific equations. It is under the Insert tab. It puts them outside of the cells like an image. You can put them on you clipboard and paste them into any program at that point.

@John D Herzog

But it will be non-editable image - so what's the point?

And no baseline info for aligning them.

What is the point in putting an image into your InDesign file?

Yes. You cannot edit an image in InDesign, so there is no point in using them? If all the person is wanting is to have a version of the equation in there file, why would this not be enough? Yes, you would have to get the font and color like you want it in Excel before copy/pasting it over, but it is still an option. It will come over like an image, but people put images in ther files all the time.

I'm not questioning Images - I was just under the impression that we are talking about best possible way to add equations = ability to position them and ability to edit them easily when needed.

Otherwise, images are of course perfectly fine.

@John D Herzog

But overall, what @creative explorer is suggesting - I could fully automate using Excel or Word...

Thanks for the idea - both of you.
