InDesign

Hi, I need your help.  I save my InDesign files to my desktop computer. When I open the files, all the photos start to disappear and I get colored lines in place of the photos. I keep all of the linked photos in the same folder that InDsign file is saved. Can you help me understand why this is happening?   I do not want to drop the photos back into the layout as there are too many to drop back into the entire mulit-paged layout. Thank you so much! Cheers, Matt

If you are on a Mac, make sure your Adobe apps still have Full Disk Access under your System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access. Recent OS updates have been known to reset these settings, and your symptoms are indicative of this.

If you are using a Mac, turn off GPU performance in the prefs.

Are you working off a remote/external location or cloud service?

I've seen this before when users were accessing from Dropbox or Google Drive.

Is this photo-files not corrupted and all ok?

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

Hi there - I have this problem and I'm working off creative cloud and using files located on drop box - It doesn't seem like the top answer can help me. Is this likely to be linked to Dropbox working? Please help! Arrrrgh!

The image quality is too high. try other images I'm sure it will work. Best way is to find an application that will reduce the quality of those images that you are going to use.
