Hi guys!
I have a question about a bug in Indesigns Word-import, which seems to exists since CS6. There's a couple of old threads about this topic, but no answer has been found yet.
When I import a Word file which contains Index entries AND anchored Text frames, it seems like InDesign ignores all Index entries until the last Text frame. Only the last couple of Index entries are imported.
I made a small demo-file to show the phenomenon. The demo file contains 7 index entries and 2 anchored text frames. But only the last 3 index entries are imported successful, the remaining ones are being ignored during import.
But as soon as I remove the anchored text frames in Word, every index entry gets imported to InDesign.
So far, I've tried:
- converting docx to doc
- converting docx to rtf
- importing with CS6, CC2016, CC2017 (tried both Windows + Mac versions)
- cleaning the docx with words internal "clean document" function
Does anyone know about this problem and knows a workaround?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance,
Tobi

Hi Tobi,
I can confirm the bug with InDesign 2021 v.16.4.0.55 on Windows 10.
Imported your docx file and inspected the Index panel. Index entries 1-4 are missing
Saved the docx without the anchored frames and imported: All index entries 1-7 are there.
