Hi,
We have a basic 2 column text frame. The texts style is defined as a numbered list. I want force some of the text paragraph (Number 2) across to the right column, so basically the body for number 2 crosses both columns (continues top right), but when I do this, the text then starts with a new number. Why does indesign think I have created a new paragraph?
Hope this makes sense,

Hi lister110:
You can do this with Window > Type and Tables > Paragraph > Panel Menu > Keep Options.
Default:
Enable Keep Lines together, then adjust the End value for At Start/End of Paragraph:

Hi lister110 ,
best show a screenshot with frame edges visible and also hidden characters visible.
Select some text of column one and two and show the formatting options for the numbering style.
Or even better:
Upload a sample document to Dropbox or a similar service and provide the download link.
Thanks,
Uwe

Hi,
In order to achieve what you want, you must insert a paragraph that has a different style sheet between your numbered paragraphs.

P.S. Column break will not work however, your paragraph will be split evenly, but you can tweak where it breaks by adding spaces (not cute but...)

Hi Lister100:
Why does indesign think I have created a new paragraph?
The various break characters work like a hard return in that they start a new paragraph. Only a line break/soft return doesn't.
We still haven't seen your layout so we are still in guessing mode. Sounds like a series of threaded frames would do it, if we are guessing correctly.

Hi, sorry for not uploading a screen shot, had to shoot off.. the below screen shot shows the green boxed text I'd like to move to the next column. I guess I can just use 2 text frames (linked) and shorten the left side, not ideal?

Hi lister110 ,
as a workaround you could use a rectangle with textwrap applied and position it on top of the text you want to wrap to the next column.

Uwe
