Options and procedures for resizing an entire print book

I have a 700 page book with some 24 chapters (each with unique page headers). Attached is a screenshot of the Document Setup (showing varying margins to account for gutter and upper page headings).

 

It is currently 8x10 inches. I need to make two new versions of this book in different sizes, and I want to do it in two ways:

 

1) Increasing the page size to 8.5 x 11. For this one I want to keep the font size the same, and I will adjust the margins, and I want all the text boxes to automatically increase to match the margins. This will reduce my page count.

 

2) Reducing the size several millimeters to match a European printer's criteria. For this one, I would just want to "reduce" the pages slightly and proportionately, with no repagination.

 

Any tutorials or recommedations for this kind of procedure?

    Well goes without saying - back up your file as the original so you always have that version.

    Package it for the other version of a larger size. 

    You can use Adjust Layout https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/indesign/using/adjust-layout.html

    If your text frames are aligned ot the margins then they should resize automatically.

    And hopefully you've anchored any images. Images may need to be resized to match the new page width.

     

    But you'll need to do this per document.

    It's only 24 docs and 700 pages (I once had do this for 126 documents and 3,200 pages)

     

    One by one - adjust the layout and the size and margins. 

    Then going page by page to check the reflow.

    I don't think there's any shortcuts or fast ways.

    Option 2

    You can make a PDF of your original (as all your other docs are 24 in total it would more efficient to place the PDF)

    Then use a script to place each page into the layout of a smaller size.

    This will scale the text down proportionally too - if you're ok with that.
