Hi,
I've contacted Adobe support but they could only advise uninstall and install Indesign.
I don't know what is stopping the styles from applying to a body of text.
I have created a video which I've uploaded to Dropbox, and can be downloaded here.
Any thoughts on this?
If you're using Magnet, disable it.
Magnet consistently turns out to be the culprit of various issues in InDesign, including the ones you describe.

Did you check if the layer is locked or if the object with the text is locked?

Hi Willi,
Nothing is locked, I just created a simple text box with placeholder text... and then I've applied para styles.
I also just finished a remote support session a few minutes ago, and they cannot solve... going higher up possibly.

Sometimes, when problems appear with paragraph style, do not select the whole paragraph, set the curser into the text and apply the paragraph style.

Thanks for the help Willi,
the files are good, something seems to be affecting the palettes in InDesign. I came to this conclusion by installing InDesign on to another machine, and it did everything fine... so I will reinstall the OS and rebuild my machine.

Hi @Taso Katsionis , im having exactly the same issues with some palettes in InDesign and the guys on remote support could not help me either. Please let me know if the machine rebuild works for you or if you discover another solution. Thanks!

I wish you'd seen this post yesterday 🙂
I ended up rebuilding my Mac and restoring all files again from Time Machine, that is time I won't see back.
The good news is that the problem has gone.

Yesterday it wasn't known yet that the last Magnet update could cause these issues.
I wonder though if you did use Magnet at all, or if it wasn't the culprit in your case?

I have the Magnet app, but it's not active now. All seems to work fine.
