place in place not workink

Why when I copy, then place in to - doesn't it do the job of placing in the same spot?

Thanks for reaching out! I tested the "Paste in Place" function in InDesign 20.1, and it works as expected on my end. The object pastes in the exact same position on the target page or spread.

Could you share which version of InDesign you are using and the details of your operating system? Also, would you mind sharing a screen recording demonstrating what is not working for you? This will help us understand the issue better.

If possible, please share a sample InDesign file where you're facing this issue, so we can test it on our side.

The OP says 'Place in to' not 'Paste in Place'. The answer here is: use Paste in Place.

Thank you for your input. It seems there was some confusion on my part regarding the user's query. When mentioned, the title as "place in place not workink" and the description as "place in(space)to - doesn't it do the job of placing in the same spot?", I initially interpreted it as referring to the "Paste in Place" function.

There is a difference bewteen 'Paste into' (which pastes contents inside another object') and 'Paste in Place' (which pastes on the same spot). So you need 'Paste in Place', or use the shortcuts Ctrl-Alt-shift-V (Windows) Cmnd-Option-Shift-V (Mac)
