Working under Apple Studio M2 MAX, Sonoma 14.4.1 and Adobe Indesign 19.4

Hello,

Despite updating to the latest versions of Adobe and Mac OS, Indesign does not recognize the graphics card in My Mac Studio. Zooms freeze, the screen flashes when I select text, moving pages by hand is sometimes impossible. Does anyone have any idea of the problem or does someone have the same problem?

could it depend on the monitor - which one are you using?

You use standard resolution for your 27 inch QHD display (2560x1440) or scaled down? I use base Mac Studio M2 max (and also mini M2 Pro) with QHD display and it is good enough hires for InDesign to use GPU performance. From your screenshot, InDesign recognize your GPU (info at bottom), it look like display is not good enaugh.

Hello, thank you for your reply, my monitor is a viewsonic VP2776 but i don't think the problem is with the monitor because Photoshop recognizes the graphics card and I don't have any other problems with Adobe CC software.

Ok lets try some simple troubleshooting steps

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.
Further info and instructions here if needed:
https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/kb/indesign-preferences-support-file-locations.html

(the link contains ways to Clear Caches etc - a bit beyond the usual reset preferences)

---

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

---

If these are not solving the issue we could try rule out 3rd Party issues

You can start your Mac in Safe Mode and only open InDesign and see if the issu e persists.

Thanks for your help. I already reinstalled the full suite and it didn't change anything. Concerning the other two solutions, preferences set to zero and starting in safe mode, I also tested them and nothing changes, Indesign does not see my graphics card (see screenshot at the beginning of the message).

Hello, thank you for the research leads, you were right, the problem came from my Viewsonic screen, it was connected via HDMI, which was an error, I connected it via USB-C and the HIDPI parameters appeared. By choosing a HIDPI resolution, Indesign immediately detected my Mac Studio card. Many thanks to those who took the time to respond to my problem!
