Screen tearing and weird lines

Hello, 

 

I just got a new computer and ever since this has startet to happen:

 

Whenever i move objects this "tearing" with the color of the background appears. This can make it hard to move objects precisely. See picture 1. 

Also i have these lines across the page i'm working on. See picture number 2.

That doesn't work! I have white lines as well and weird lines above text. When I zoom in or out or scroll they disappear - then come back on a different page. No other program does this - only InDesign! Help!

Hello @Jodi27046347owrf,

 

Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind trying to update the GPU drivers if you are using Windows by following the steps shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/update-graphics-driver.html), restarting your computer, and relaunching InDesign to check if it helps?

 

If on a mac, try resetting the Display Resolution and Scaling to the default, disconnect any external monitors (if any), and relaunch Illustrator to check if it helps.

 

If the issue persists, kindly share some more information, like the exact version of the OS/InDesign installed on your computer, system configuration (CPU/GPU/Memory/Display Monitor), and a screen recording of the problem so that we can investigate this further.

It's not the GPU drivers. I have GPU turned off. By the way, for a Mac - is kind of important for performance. So thanks for having a solution that disables something that should help but that we have to turn off because of the Adobe software.


THE ONLY fix I have found to NOT show the lines is turning OFF the Overprint View. I love working in Overprint View and now I cannot because of the screen lines and tearing. 

 

So, until you can make InDesign work properly with the new Mac Software, it's a disappointing path.

 

And yes - this ONLY happens in InDesign.

The latest of InDesign: 17.2

OS: Monterey 12.3.1 - Purchased April 2022

Chip: Apple M1 Pro

Video driver automatically updates with the OS on a Mac.

 

Yes - the tech disabled the GPU performance.

I have this problem too. Never seen it happen before until ID 2023

- 32 gigs of RAM, a 6 gigabyte graphics card, an I7 processor, all GPU drivers updated, scaling set to small. Window 10.

 

A bit ridiculous really.

I am getting this issue too. This isn't an isolated issue. I just bought a new notebook and the screen tearing only happens in indesign and is absolutely horrendous.

It happens at both 60hz and 120hz.

I think it has to do with the resolution of the monitor.  The resolution of my monitor is 2056 x 1440.

This is a nightmare working on a notebook. How can we get this fixed. This makes indesign almost unusable.

I get both the lines and the screen tearing.

I have attached an image of what is occurring. It sometimes makes entire lines unreadable. 

How can we escalate this.

This is definitely a problem with indesign and screen resolution. I change the resolution of my screen to 1920x1080 from 2056x1440 and the screen tearing disappears. 

 

So, this is a bug with adobe indesign 19.2.

It is not compatible with a monitor resolution of 2056x1440.

19.3 is rolling out and if you're on a Mac make sure your O/S is fully updated. If none of that fixes it turn off GPU Performance.
