too many docs in book window to deselect

I need to synchronize my book with the most recent ID file so that all files have the same settings, styles, etc. You can only do this if no file is selected. The best instruction I have is that to de-select a file, you click "in the open area" underneath the list of files in the book window. That does indeed deselect any selected files. However, my files fill the book window at the window's maximum expansion -- and more (there's about 60 files in it). The book window scrolls just fine... but there is no longer "an open area" at the bottom of the window where I can click to de-select the selected file. I find that I can only select another file, not de-select.

What to do?

Well, that certainly solves the problem. Thanks! Would prefer to be able to de-select, but if I can't, then this does the trick.
