Trying to line up a left column of numbers anchored to a right column of text blocks

Here's an example of the page spread I am trying to line up the numbered section on the left column after I have anchored the number to the right column text reference.

Set up and turn on Align to Baseline Grid.

They are in separate text boxes. I just can't figure out how to place the numbers in the same position going down the pages.
Thank you,
Jeanette

So horizontally or vertically?
Can you draw some extra lines - mark what you would like to achieve?

Vertically. Similar to a table but without the lines, but the numbering position consistently as if there were a decimal point there so they line up.

It looks to me like you mean aligning the numbers on the horizontal axis as they read down the column.
Your text frames should all be the same width and you can set a text alignment as part of the paragraph style assigned to the numbers.

Can I set up a fake decimal point for vertical alignment going down the column in paragraph styles? Currently, I have the numbers anchored to the scripture reference text. Now I am trying to figure out the best way to line those numbers going down.

Yes, you would need to set "decimal tab" and then select any character as a decimal point.
But this would also require adding <tab> before each number.
If you can share even one sample page - we can modify it for you so you can just import the modified definition of the ParaStyle.

I thought I did attach a spread in the previous message. I have added it again as a PDF below.
Thank you!

Unfortunately, PDF is useless - can you attach INDD file? One spread will be sufficient.

Sorry, I am not sure how to attach the one spread and not the whole document.

If you move one spread into a new document - InDesign will make a copy of just this portion of the text.
It's the same as if you would select both TextFrames and made a duplicate - or copy&paste.

Unfortunately, two of your "body" ParaStyles are based on the ParaStyle used in the Anchored TFs:
So we can't do anything until they are un-BasedOn.
Also your TF's are not Anchored in the text?
Or you've unAnchored them when preparing this sample document?
And not all of them are in the same place - marked in red.
And you don't have ObjectStyle applied to them.

Okay, thank you. I'm not sure how to best proceed from here. Also, I am not sure what TF's are? Do you understand what I am trying to accomplish? Is there a script or an easier way to have everything line up horizontally and vertically as I need them to?

TFs - short for TextFrames.
Quick question - do you want to align on ":"
or just right?

Right, should have known that. I want to align the numbers to the right as if there were a decimal number in front of it. Oh, and yes, this particular page isn't anchored but the previous one in the spread is. I was trying to show an example using a table to demonstrate the vertical positioning I am trying to achieve.

Yes, I've later noticed that you've them anchored on the left page.
Unfortunately, but there are more problems with your file - and untill you fix it- no automatic solution will work for you...
Your document isn't done as "automatic" spreads / Facing Pages - but manually??
So applying ObjStyle - won't work - unless each page will have a separate ObjStyle applied...
It took me a few minutes to "get" what is going on 😉

Thank you again! So, I should go in and fix the paragraph styles first? Anything specific I need to do? I am the second person to work on this document and there are lots of styles set up 😔. I tried to create facing pages but I couldn't get a spread without extra pages. Maybe there is a way to do that but I am unfamiliar with it.

You're welcome.
Please check my another reply:
Styles - I've posted you a screenshot earlier - marked two that are based on the worng one.
BUT - I would suggest that you'll leave them alone for now - they are not important 😉 and fix your pages first.
Applying correct ParaStyle is piece of cake - and you won't have to edit any other ParaStyle in your document - just run two simple Find&Change queries.

Could you please confirm which version do you prefer:

With ObjStyles it's easy to get this:
Anchored TFs will automatically shift to the outside - when text will reflow.
But like I've said - your document needs to be fixed first...
Do you prefer to fix it yourself - or would you need my help?

If you've just your text - WITHOUT anything else on your pages - or only a few things that will be easy to move - then I would suggest, that you'll create a new Document - same page size and margins - but this time to fit your TFs so they won't "float in the middle" - then select contents of your main Story and paste into this new Document - and reflow it.
Then move remaining objects from the old Document.
