Where did I miss the Font fonctionality?

When opening a document, whichever I open, I always get a msg that says I'm missing fonts.

Anyone can tell me what or where are the settings to have an automatic recognition of my fonts please?

Daniel.

Here is another (more scary) screen capture showing that I'm missing more 😞

As you can imagine, I'm pretty discouraged.  I'm paying for a piece of software that is so complete that I'm kind of scared to take the time to learn more about InDesign for lack of time.

I also see issues with links.  See this screen capture where the software shows broken AND missing links 😞

Once upon a time the VAG Rounded family was included in the Adobe Font Folio, but it does not appear to be included in the current Adobe Fonts selection available with your Creative Cloud Subscription. There is a similar, possibly identical font, VAG Rundschrift, available which might be a reasonable substitute, or VAG Rounded can be purchased from several font sites, like MyFonts.com, but there is no guarantee the version will be the same as used in your file.

Daniel,

It looks like you may be opening documents created by another person. If that is so, they may not have given you copies of the font(s) used in the document. Is that so?

One way to learn more about fonts in a document in InDesign is to choose Type > Find/Replace Font.

Fonts which are missing will show a warning symbol like in this screen capture:

If someone is sending you their file to open, they should use the Package command. It includes fonts in the package folder so the fonts will be properly opened.

Graphics placed in InDesign are not usually embedded in the file, they are linked. If the person providing the files used the Package command, they would also be included and would show up when you open the file.

Again, where are you getting your files from?

Steve

Hello @Steve Werner

Yes, the document is a collective creation.  What I mean by this is that I supplied to a designer what I had done so far and got the designer to complete it.  I made sure that he shipped me the full document package.

Is there a way to verify that I do have all the pieces?

If the designer completed it and sent you the whole package, it should contain those fonts and linked graphics.

On a Macintosh, if you copy the fonts into this folder, they should be visible in InDesign:

[computer name] > Library > Fonts

(It would have been easier if the designer had created a package)

For the linked graphics, you'll need to use the Links panel (Window > Links) and choose a missing link, then click the Relink icon and navigate to the graphic. You might create a folder in the same folder as your InDesign file and copy all the graphics into that folder to make it easier:
