Why does text go on the next line?

Hi there!

I keep running into an issue with a lot of text in my document where words that should be able to fit on the same line keep moving down to the next line. I try to delete the space inbetween and then add the space back in but that doesn't make any difference (example attached).

As you can see in my screenshot the word "of" should be able to fit next to the word "degree", but when I put a space inbetween the two words it pushes "of" onto the next line. 

Anybody know how I can fix this? Thanks so much!!

Turn ON SHOW HIDDEN CHARACTERS - menu Type - maybe there is NON BREAKING SPACE after "of" ?

This might be the result of using one of the Adobe Paragraph Composers (as opposed to the Single Line Composer) whcih are designed to make a better looking paragraph flow. The Balance Ragged Lines setting will also affect this.

If you hit return after "of "it will go back up to the top line I will manual do this especially if a word is hyphenated in the wrong place.

better to try a non-breakin space before the word you want to move up. Much less likely to cause an unitended break in later editing.

Hi @Sasha25257492naww , Also your paragraph’s Hyphenation... and Justification... settings could affect line breaks—with left aligned paragraphs the Justification>Desired settings might change breaks.

I can't tell without seeing the whole paragraph, but you might have Balance Ragged Lines switched on (Paragraph>Balance Ragged Lines), which will 'even' out the lines in a given paragraph. I do like this feature in certain cases - headlines for example - but it does throw up undesirable results in situations like this.
