Spell check language switches from English to Estonian in the middle of the document

I am finishing up a 50+ page Indesign project. When running spell check the spell check language switches from English to Estonian at the exact same place every time, thus telling me every word after that is incorrect. I have tried updating Indesign and selecting the text and changing the User Dictionary to English but it re-sets to Estonian every time.

What language is in the setting of the text?

  • You should set it to the correct language in Paragrph Style,
  • text with a different language should be set up in Character Styles, also proper names (I suggest to use a character Style with language “no language“ here.
  • It is possible to overwrite the language manually, as you see in the extended character panel or in the control panel on top of the document. I don't recommend manually overwriting as it causes some problems.

 

In the preferences you can set up for each language and language flair the dictionary and the apostrophes, but this does not have any influence which language the text has.
