Hello,

Anyone experienced this issue?

Upgrading to Ligtroom classic 12.1, RGB color readouts were completly off on masks. Visually you could see the expected changes in contrast, brightness, etc while mouse over readouts showed the same numbers as before. So completly off. Like you could see that black areas were getting toward complete black, but the readout was still at around 14% in all 3 channels.

I downgraded my Lightroom to previous 12.0.1. which works just fine.

I cannot replicate this behavior in Lightroom Classic 12.1  RGB values reported under the Histogram adjust for masking changes.  Perhaps you could give us a step-by-step example?

I can't replicate on my Mac either. With or without a mask, the RGB values are identical in the same location. After creating a mask, what edits are you applying?

Hello,

usually on masks I edit exposure, shadows, highlights. Sometimes whites, blacks.

I have a constant workflow of products, shoot under exact lighting conditions and some colors have to match exactly (+ - 2%).

In 12.0.1 all was working well, in 12.1 not anymore. So I went back to 12.0.1

My RGB values changed, as expected with masks/exposure.

Hello, i  wrongly replied to all in this chat.

Mu issue : I am adjusting still life pics, so that they are consuistant.

1. I import daily around 60 raw files, from canon r6.

2. Apply custom settings to each of pics (contrast, brightness, shadows, lights and red hue)

3. Zooming in i check the exposition values (RGB) on various parts of the products.

4. I draw a mask, cross select it with red color (which usually needs adjustments), so to select only red parts of the product. Many times i draw many additional masks, for different parts of red areas, if these areas are more in shade.

5. Usually i adjust exposure and shadows, so to get the red in RGB readouts at around 60%.

6. I check adjusted areas so that R from RGB is around 60 (usually is lower before local adjustments with masks).

7. I also darken other, too bright areas and lighten too dark ones, but there i don't need readoust, it is purely visual.

But for red parts i need to be consistent, so that R from RGB is around 60%.

This way all works well with LR 12.0.1

Today I did a clean install of osx 13.5 (ventura) on my Imac 27' (3,8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7 /

AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB / 40 GB 2667 MHz DDR4). I also installed LR 12.4.

The problem persists . Visually the adjustment happens,  color readouts are wrong.

Downgrading LR to 12.0.1 it works normally.

I guess that something happend when reprogramming LR from 12.0.1 on.

Any suggestion?

Greetings, @Boris27771378e35s

I've reviewed your steps with the engineers. Here are some asks:

  1. Do you see the same issue in Camera Raw as you do in Lightroom Classic
  2.  Is it possible to edit a file in 12.0.1 and export it as a DNG and then edit the same file in 12.4 and export it as a separate DNG and share both with us?
  3. A picture is worth a thousand words and video even more.  Is it possible to demonstrate the issue on video  (it would be most helpful to have a video of each version)

If you can answer/supply that, I can have an engineer evaluate it.

Thanks!

Hi Rikk,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I will duplicate the same file and process it in both versions of Lightroom and in Photoshop's Camera raw, with screen capture videos, so you'll see.

Is there an option to have installed both versions of Lightroom (12.0.1 and 12.4) at the same time?

Thank you,

Hi Rikk,

Here are the the videos, (DNG's are too large and can't attach them) where you can clearly see the behaviour of both Lightrooom versions. Also a prinscreen attached, where you can see that R reading is around 43 in LR 12.4.

Please help.

DNGs are not attachable in the forum. You will need to share them with a service like Dropbox or similar and then share a link to them.

Hi Rikk,

Attached is a link to exported dng and 6 printscreens:

The same file is opened with and without adjustment mask and in Camera Raw (photoshop 2023), Lightroom 12.4, Lightroom 12.0.1 the visual change (brightness of red inside) is clearly visible in all of them, just in Lightroom 12.4. RGB readout is off - green dot is a small marking, without adjustment, just to be precise with position of color readout point.  Pictures are property released, usable only for checking this issue.

For current work I am using (again) Lightroom 12.0.1. as it works right.

Let me know your thoughts
