P: Apply During Import missing from Import window

Explorer ,

Using "add" to add items to the catalog.  If I click the import button the right side of the import window is correct and looks like this:

RackMultipart201810301197551ll-61310d71-5ff5-4617-894b-26fe028221de-2044567590.pngRackMultipart201810301197551ll-61310d71-5ff5-4617-894b-26fe028221de-2044567590.png

Note the "Apply During Import" section.   However, if instead of clicking import I drag a folder to the Lightroom icon the "Apply During Import" section is missing.  It also look like the last used develop and metadata settings are applied to the images.

This is a regression.  Now the import window looks like this.

RackMultipart2018103073629bkij-64ce1a83-4a08-45c0-b70d-ad651d87c61f-1910087296.pngRackMultipart2018103073629bkij-64ce1a83-4a08-45c0-b70d-ad651d87c61f-1910087296.png

What happens when you close the Import window and then drag and drop a folder again?
Does this issue reoccur?
I assume you are not using a trial version.

Thanks,
Sunil

Hi Marco,

Could you please try below steps and let us know if you are still facing the issue?
a) Right Click on File Handling section and click on Apply During Import.
b) Relaunch LR
c) Drag and drop folder to the LR icon and check if "Apply During Import" is still missing.

Also please share your system info.

Good question.  I closed the window and dragged the same folder again it worked that time.

No, I am not using a trial version.  I've been using Lightroom on a Mac since version 4 or 5.

I tried the right-click on File Handling yesterday.   There was no option to Apply During import.

I quit LR.   I dragged my test folder on top of the Lr Icon (MacOS Mojave on a late 2012 iMac).   The import screen started by showing the Apply During Import, but not my images.   Within about a second the screen refreshed itself and displayed the jpeg images to import, but left out the Apply During Import options.

I cancelled the import and dragged my test folder on top of the Lr icon again.  As noted in my previous response, the Apply During Import AND my images showed up in the import window.   This is a suitable workaround for me until it is fixed.

Looks like this issue happens if the Import window appears immediately after a Lightroom Classic start.
We are investigating.

Thanks, Marco.

Thanks,
Sunil

Lightroom Classic-Version: 8.0 [ 1193777 ]
Lizenz: Creative Cloud
Spracheinstellung: de
Betriebssystem: Windows 10 - Business Edition
Version: 10.0.17134
Anwendungsarchitektur: x64

When I launch Lightroom through autostart by inserting a sd card into my PC there will be no "apply during import" option available. Also not available in the appropiate context menu.

The same issue appears when I use Photo Mechanic 5 (which is much faster for previewing and rating and tagging my photos) to sort and tag my photos and send them to Lightroom from PM 5

Same here.

I have been having this issue since a couple of months myself. On the left you see the panels when the auto import is triggered by inserting the memory card, on the right if I do it manually.

Image is not available

What's interesting is that if you like me use a preset, even if you do import when the apply during import panel is not shown, the images still have the develop setting and keywords applied. Since I only import with camera specific presets with generic keywords, this is not an issue for me. I'm just happy LR doesn't crash anymore when ejecting the card like it used to do few updates back.

Thanks for letting us know.
We are aware of this issue.
At present, the workaround is to close the Import window and re-open it.

Thanks,
Sunil

Why did Adobe get rid of the ability to keyword images on Import? The more things I can do to an image set on import, the better and smoother my workflow is. Keywording is an important part of that process. Please bring it back!

Still no fix for the missing Apply During Import panel? This just happened to me for the first time, been using LR CC for almost a year. I drag the folder from Finder to the LR icon and never had this issue. I updated LR recently, don't know what I had then but now I have LR Classic CC 8.1 build 1200465, macOX 10.13.6. Canceling and restarting the import fixed it but that's just one more quirk to put up with!

I've installed the latest version, LR Classic CC 8.2.1 (German version) and there's the same problem.

With LR off, drag and drop a file to LR in Dock, then there is no "Apply During Import" in the Import window - and thusly no way to apply Development Settings.
If, however, LR is on at the time of drag and drop, then the Import window is fine with "Apply During Import".
Would be awfully nice to, again, be able to apply development settings from auto start.

I just updated to LR Classic 8.4.1 --- AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK! Come on Adobe, do you job! I pay you every flippin month to do just that. It's so irritating, THIS USED TO WORK!!! WHY DID YOU REMOVE IT?

Edit: I used to just drag a folder onto the LR icon and import that way. Now I have to make sure LR is open, then drag the folder into the library.

Lightroom Classic 9.0 was released earlier today and contained a fix for this issue. Please give it a try and confirm it is working for you after updating. Thanks for your patience.
