P: Arrow keys no longer advance to next photo in filmstrip in Develop

When I use "+" key to go up on the exposure slider it stops my arrow keys from being able to move left and right on the film strip. If I press "+" it does its job and makes the slider go up but it makes it so I can't go left and right using the film strip. However, if I press "-" it works fine and I can still select the next and previous images with the arrow keys.

I've gone back to 13.4 and it works fine so it's clearly the update is the problem.

Greetings all,

A new update for Adobe Photography Products has been released.  The 13.5.1 update contains an update for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for being so patient.

Obrigado.

I don't know why, but my arrows stop working everytime I press the "+"or "-" keys to ajust exposure on my lightroom. It start working again if I restart the program. I use it to go through the photos, and it mess with my workflow, not being able to use fully the arrows and + - keys.

I already restart the computer (macmini)...

Adobe has acknowledged this bug in LR 13.5. Workarounds while waiting for it to be fixed:

- Use - and = on the top row of the keyboard to adjust the sliders rather than + and - on the numeric keypad.

- Use the documented shortcuts Ctrl/Cmd Left Arrow and Ctrl/Cmd Right Arrow to switch photos.

- Roll back to LR 13.4.

Lightroom Classic Version 13.5 has issues using the left and right arrow keys. Adobe, please fix this problem ASAP, because this problem slows down my editing process significantly. As a wedding photographer who edits many pictures, this function is very important to me and other wedding photographers.

The issue is like this: In the Develop area, if I use the keyboard, I
cannot navigate to the next or previous photo using the left and right
arrow keys as I normally do. Sometimes the keys work, but after a few
photos, the keys stop responding again. I have already tried using
different keyboards, but the result is the same. I do not face any problems
with the arrow keys working in other applications like Word, Excel, or
games.

Adobe has acknowledged this bug in LR 13.5 (and your post has been merged into existing bug report). See here for workarounds:

After updating to LR Classic 13.5 when in Develop mode I can no longer cylce to the next photo using the arrow keys.   They work in Library mode only.  As a portrait photographer I have hundreds of photos to cycle through daily and most of my workflow happens on the keyboard so I don't have to keep on going to the mouse.   This started happening after I updated to 13.5

Avoid clicking a plus sign just before moving left/right with arrows. If you need to increase Exposure, just click minus sign once before arrows and it should be work.

Ok that worked but it wasn't like that before this last update. So pretty
sure that's considered a bug. Am I wrong?

BTW thanks for that info. At least I know how to move forward.

The problem was introduced in LR 13.5, and your report has been merged into the official bug report thread (Adobe has acknowledged the problem).  See here for more workarounds:

After the update, the arrow keys on the keyboard no longer work for changing to the next photo in the Develop tab. I also have a shortcut on my mouse for changing photos, and it doesn't work either. I don't know what has changed, but please let me know how to fix this. It's making photo editing very difficult. I've been using the program for many years, and I've never encountered this issue before.

  1. LR 13.5
  2. Mac OS Sonoma 14.4
  3. edit in lightroom. use arrow key to advance to next image.
  4. Expected result- going to next image.
Actual results- not going to next image.

Really hope this isnt a repeat of the last years LR 13 release that didnt get fixed for 6 weeks.

experiencing this same bug but the ctrl + arrows workaround is not providing a solution for me. I alos proceess high volume wedding images and this is a major issue.

The issue with the arrow keys feels eerily similar to the great flop of 13.1, a little less that a year ago. I cant help but wonder, after 13.1 was such a massive failure, how did adobe release another version with the another similar issue 10 months later? What is the beta testing processing like over there?
