P: Backup won't write to Network drive

Lightroom Classic version 12.0.1

macOS 12.6.1 (21G217)

Upon quitting, Lr Classic asks to save a backup. If the backup is saved to a local drive, it succeeds. If it is set to save to a network drive (NAS) it fails.

1. Open Lightroom Classic

2. Quit Lightroom Classic, click Yes to really Quit

3. In the Back Up Catalog dialog select a network drive, Test integrity and Optimize can be checked or unchecked, click "Back up" button

4. Backup Up Catalog window appears with "Copying catalog" progress bar, it changes to "Compressing catalog backup"

5. Errror message appears, "Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named "CatalogFilename". Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive.

6. Choose a local backup drive and it works

This was working in version 12.0, but would sometimes crash after saving. Now it doesn't crash, but it won't write. I tried unchecking and rechecking Full Disk Access in Security & Privacy for Lr Classic. No change. Error message attached.

Thanks for the heads up.
This is a known issue in 12.0.1.

Same problem here in Windows 10 Pro. In my case, it won't backup to a Dropbox folder on a local drive (not the boot drive).

Will we be notified when this is fixed as I too are having this problem and have wasted a whole afternoon trying to resolve this, including 2 hours spent chatting to an Adobe agent and at no point did he mention it was a known issue.

Since updating Lightroom Classic to v12 I have not been able to backup my catalog to a network drive, the same network drive that I have been backing up my Lightroom catalog to for years. The drive exists, and has plenty of space on it. I backed up my catalog right before updating from v11 to v12 and it worked fine. However, now everytime I back up my catalog, it appears to do the back up, then at the end shows a popup saying that the backup could not be completed. It seems to be failing during the compressing stage.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? And how I can fix it?

For reference I am on macOS Ventura.

C'MON Adobe, it's coming up on 4 weeks since acknoledging this bug.  When can we expect this to be fixed?  I've held off updating because of this critical issue.  It worked before, what did you do to break it?

Idem.

Problem does not appear to be fixed (for me at least) with 12.1. Running on macOS 13.1 and attempting backup onto a Synology NAS using SMB file share.

I have the same issue on a fresh install. Win 11 cannot backup to any local or NAS drive. Heck I even tried a thub drive. All permissions are correct. Trust me I'm a sysadmin. This as I said is a new install with no current backups runnin 12.1. Is there a workaround ot files I can backup on mu own outside the app?

Thanks

So I solved my issue. It seems that Lightroom Classic used my OneDrive during the install. This folder was not synced. I changed the settings to always have a copy on local disk. Once it was fully synced the backup ran. I can also now point the backup to my NAS.
