I'm having this issue after upgrading to 24.4.1 with Lightroom 12.3 on Windows 10. The taskbar tab turns orange, but I have to click on it to get Photoshop to come forward.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks for the details & the supporting info enabling us to reproduce this on test machines.
Setting status & adding bug number.
For years now, choosing 'Edit in...' has then opened the image in the chosen app, but for some reason now
'Edit in Photoshop' stays in Lightroom and I need to physically choose the Photoshop app to see the image opened there. Maybe some meny setting will restore to the old way of automatically opening in the chosen app? Need help with this please. TIA, Ken...
Hi @Ken Nielsen
Thanks for sharing the details.
Which version of Lightroom Classic are you using? Do you keep your Photoshop open while doing this workflow?
Please check and confirm; if you are using the same procedure: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/how-to/lightroom-photoshop-edit-photos.html.
You can try the suggestions mentioned here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/p-lrc-11-0-1-edit-in-ps2022-fails-because-ph...
We're here to help.
See this thread. Is that what you are experiencing?
Using Lightroom Classic version 12.3 with Camera Raw version 15.3 and yes. Photoshop and Lightroom stay open all of the time.
Apparently there are different issues but mine is pretty straightforware and I provide a screen shot. I've always been able to select 'Edit in..." and then choose Photoshop and then it opens up IN Photoshop. Lately, it opens in Photoshop alright but does not take me to Photoshop, I need to choose the Photoshop App to be able to see the file now opened in Photoshop.
Try logging into another Mac user account (you should make a new one); does it work the same, better?
When the 'link' between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop has issues, one of the first things to try is this:1. Use the Adobe Creative Cloud application to uninstall both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic and when asked, keep preferences. 2. Install Photoshop first, then Lightroom Classic. The order of the product installed is what is very important here.Better?
That's the issue I linked to. Photoshop opens, but does not come to the front and get the focus.
Je n'ai plus de réponse de votre part.... et je suis toujours en galère !!
Quelle solution pouvez vous m'apporter car en attendant j'ai payé pour l'année et je ne peux pas travailler normalement.
When I use Cmd-E to transfer a pic from Lightroom to Photoshop the pic opens in Photoshop but I have to now manually select Photoshop instead of being automatically switched to it as before. Only since the last update to Lightroom.
Yes, all of my software is updated the day it is released so always the latest version. This is why this problem happened, it was after the latest update. Yess I keep all apps open all of the time, Everything normal to the way. I always work, This appears to be a bug.
Desde la última actualización, cuando se utilizan las máscarás va muy muy lento, incluso no responde.
Y cuando mandas editar la fotografía a photoshop, no abre el photoshop cuando ya tiene la foto ahí para trabajar.

I have new information to add. I changed my video card to meet the DirectX 12 requirments of PS Beta and GenFill. Problem is now resloved. I replaced two video cards, a GeForce 730 amd a GeForce 710 with a GeForce RTX 3060. Hopefully, this will help the bug team.
Ok, I spoke too soon. Mine has stopped working correctly again. The only change I think I have made is profiling one of my monitors with i1Display Profiler. I'll try a reboot later and see if it starts working correctly.
Updates for Adobe Photography products have been released. The June 2023 updates contain a fix for this issue. If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ]. Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for the fix!!!
I was having the same problem, so I googled it and now it's fixed - thank you Rikk!
I've just updated and the behavior is not fixed. I restarted everything just to be sure. What am I missing? Is this the fix that will make the Photoshop screen open up when I choose 'open in...' from Lightroom? This is still not working for me and it had worked fine until the previous update to Lightroom.
What was the fix? Share please...
Can you please share your system info shown in Lightroom Classic (Help -> System info)?
Thank you! Issue resolved with June update.

Can you share a small video of the workflow (and the issue thats happening)
Currently what all versions of Photoshop are installed (can you please try to uninstall and reinstall PS versions once ) ?
I have tried to take a video using my iPhone and used Lightroom to try to import the video so I could send to you and chose 'trust' to get the files onto my computer but it said is was replacing all of my files on the computer with the contents of the iPhone and now I think I am in a. worse mess than I was when I started because I don't know how to get a video of the screen off of my iPhone so I can choose the file and send to you. From Light room I tried to import the video off of the iPhone onto my Mac to the desktop and it imported but when I looked at the desktop there is no video file there. This is terrible. I was able to take a video of what is happening which is nothing really other than showing Lightroom, right clicking on an image and choosing open in Photoshop and then it does nothing... I have to choose the app Photoshop to see the image which indeed did open but does not switch from Lightroom to Photoshop like it used to do, I have to choose Photoshop manually and then can see the file opened there. I am hesitant now because of the mess this has been to try to delete Photoshop and reinstall because I don't know how or what is the correct way to do that...
