Hello, since Lrc 14/14.01 I have not been able to import images from a favourite Win 10 folder.

Its where I keep all my misc stuff I download from the net, etc.

Its called "Downloads & Software".

I try to import a jpeg and the progress bar on the top left just hangs there doing nothing.

I can import images from other folders.

I just created a new folder called 'New Folder' - and cut everything from with "Downloads and Software" and pasted it inside "New Folder".

I tried to import a jpeg and the progress bar on the top left just hangs there doing nothing.

So there is an issue that it does not want to import from the root folder - yet it imports images from subfolders.

Conversely - if I go to the root of New Folder - select an image and right-click and choose "Open With - Lightroom Classic" - it again shows the import progress bar but it just hangs.

I just put "New Folder"  into another folder - and tried to import from the root of New Folder - and I cannot.

No matter what I name that folder - or - if I cut all contents and paste into another folder - I cannot import from the root folder.

EDIT: see reply below about video files

Hello, I updated to Lightroom Classic v 14.0.1 today and now it's suddenly not importing ANYTHING.

Not just from my external hard drive, even my desktop. Please help.

Photographer in need of help asap.

I can still edit and view previously imported files and can open files on other software.

I have MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1

I have tried resetting preferences, and checked permissions...

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Exactly what is happening?

Is the Library button missing from the modules bar?  In the Library module, is the Import button missing? In the File menu, do you see "Import Photos and Videos?

Please reply with a screen shot of the entire screen in the Library module. Post the screen shot in your reply using the little icon with a mountain in the message tool bar.

Same for me. I just tried importing photos from my iPhone for the first time since upgrading to 14.0.1. I clicked the Import button. The phone is unlocked and there are squares and photo names to select but no previews. I select one or several. I click the button to import them. It says it is importing but just hangs there and makes no progress. The progress bar stays at 0. Forever.  I hope there is a fix soon. Where else can we report this? Is this the best place?

You are having more luck than me.    I can't get Lightroom Classic to show my iphone as a source for importing since i updated to 14.01.   i followed some directions about erasing some of phone settings and the result is that i had to rest the location services in about a dozen apps but the Lightroom Classic still doesn't work and i can't import any photos.

I posted below with similar issues importing from my iphone but i now realize i can't import from any devices since upgraded to 14.01.    When I select on importing photos, neither my iphone nor Nikon D500 camera appear as sources.   The only sources that show are the computer itself and two external harddrives that i used for backup.    Neither phone nor camera appear as option.

I have had the problem of my phone not appearing in Lightroom when connected. But that was with an older version. I cannot remember what the solution was. I think I either updated Lightroom or my MacOS. Sorry that isn't helpful since you have probably updated.

Lightroom Classic Version Number: 14.0.1 [202410161356-30922cfc] + camera RAW 17.0
OS Version Number: Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Build 19045.5011

Steps to reproduce:

1.  File=>Import photos & videos. Import assistant detects 71 files to import whereas there are 102 files in the folder.
2. Select setting "Add" (files are already copied on the hard drive, we just want to reference them in the catalog)
3. Wait for the import to happen
4. Check imported files vs. folder context
Expected result: 102 files imported
Actual result: 71 files actually imported

Additional informations :

- the issue started after LC14.0.1 update and I used the "synchronize" function on a folder to add files afterwards into a folder I was already working on. This folder sync then contained mixed files type : Nikon Z6-II RAW + videos + DNG RAW from my phone (Xiaomi 13T pro)  + JPEG files whereas originally there was only Nikon RAS + vids. I have no clue if the mix of type of files is the origin of the problem.

- I tried to remove completely all the folder and files from the catalog and reimport everything, with still the issue on the same files

- Sync does not work either

See video enclosed.

I got the root cause : the video files.

LR stucks on video files import.

I eliminated the videos from the folder and import and synchro went fine.

I add back a video, import or synchro blocks again.

More precisely the bug probably comes from the preview dialog box management on video files.

The preview from the import/sync dialog box does not show miniature after the vid files, and even when UNselecting the video files then start import with only the images selected, the import queue would stuck forever.

I had a similar issue, but since it was on Windows and this thread was later mixing issue, then I posted on a different thread.

Anyway, some information that may help you with the experience I had :

- import of video seems to blocks the import

- unselecting the video from an import list in the import/sync wizzard does NOT fix the issue, and the queue would remains stucked in case your start import of photo

- once the import stayed stuck, LR would not restart even if import queue is canceled properly and LR restarted (in that case you would need to kill the LR process from task manager or reboot PC)

Conclusions, awaiting for the bug fix :

- put your videos in a different folder and only import your photos from the photo folder

- for those who have a workflow to connect to camera/phone and prefer copy files at the same time they do the import, I guess that the import fail on video the same way I experienced, so you should try to first copy the files manually frmo your device to your computer and then only do the import of already copied files by chosing the "add" and not "copy" workflow on top of the import wizzard window

I hope it helps.

I have also had the same problem since updating to 14.0.1. And I think everyone in this thread has this problem. As pointed out by xapitof, the cause is the videos. If these are moved to another folder as a workaround, the import works again. Hopefully a bugfix will be released soon.

Actually, I think my problem is the same as the original poster.   Although I thought the issue was originally limited to my iphone, it is in fact in inability to important any photos from external source since i updated to 14.01.   Neither my phone nor Nikon camera appear as an option on the import photos dialoge.   The only sources that appear is the computer harddrive and external storage.

I can't speak for emilyd69251714 but my issue isn't related to videos.    I can't get 14.01 to show either my camera or iphone as a source when trying to import photos (or video).   They simply don't show up as an source option and I don't as far as seeing any photos or videos in the import list.

The iphone shows in Apple Finder although the Nikon does not.   I"m not sure if that is a new development or has always been the case.

Lightrrom classic import images is extremely slow.  Steps taken so far:  updated Mac Mini to latest IOS (sequoia).  Mac Mini is M1, 16GB ram, 2T hard drive with 1.4T used and  600GB unused space.  All applications and image processing done on internal hard drive.  Lightroom catalogue and cache are located on internal hard drive.  All images located on WD 10T external 3.5"  7200 rpm hard drive, exclusively dedicated for only lightroom images.  I have one catalogue containing 363,000 images,  a total of 9T on drive and  1 T unused space.  I updated LR Classic software to latest version 14.0.1.  I made new catalogue and exported all to new catalogue.  Cameras used are Nikon z9, z8 and Zf.  Cards are Fast CF, XQD and Fast SD.  I use usb 3.0 port to download.  Most files are raw files.  Latest download is mostly JPG images but has taken 4 1/2 hours to download 1397 images.  My last weekend photo shoot, mostly birds and other wildlife, is 20,000 images.  Cannot download or process due to poor performance of Adobe.  I spent 1 hour online chat with Apple and they advised upgrade to Sequoia.  They inspected my computer and found not issues.  Two years ago I purchased the Mac Mini to replace my MacPro because Lightroom would not support my then current IOS version.

I have used lightroom and photoshop for over 10 years and right now, I am very frustrated.  Please help.  Also, Adobe website is a nightmare to navigate.  I dont know whether or not this is a bug but I am dead in the water until I get this resolved.  I also am running out of CF cards as most are tied up with images I cannot download.

Any help or recommendations would be apreciated.   Thanks.

Latest efforts today.  Rebooted Mac Mini M1 and made all new catalogue to test import speed.  Imported 683 JPG images and it took 2hr 33 min. Tried different USB 3.0 card reader and usb 3.0 cable and plugged directly into back of mini, not through docking station.  Made no difference.  I continue to think there is a bug in Adobe but dont know what else to do to diagnose and repair it.  Should I try CleanmyMac repair program?  thanks.

I recently updated to ver 14.0.1 and first noticed that I could no longer preview my videos and now discovered that video import is not working. In fact I cannot even import images if there is a video included. I'm using windows 10 and Canon cr3 & mp4 files.
