1. Import an image and apply metatdata to the Title field. (eg. "Lovely Wiew")2. Export to jpg. The jpg has the Title "Lovely Wiew".3. Recognise the typo (ie Wiew should be View).4. Correct the raw image in Lightroom. Raw image now has a title of "Lovely View".5. Re-export the image, overwriting the existing jpg.6. The jpg still has the incorrect Title value of "Lovely Wiew".after correcting and re-exporting the image, the catelog value for this raw and jpg should be "Lovely View" and the metadata within the jpg should contain the Title "Lovely View".This bug causes me unending levels of grief and hours of wasted re-work time.

There's a bit missing to this report. Add to Catalog is checked in both instances. In the second overwrite export, it doesn't automatically update the catalog entry with the updated metadata.

Work-around: Invoke 'Read Metadata From File' after exporting (see Metadata menu). If you turn metadata status indicators on, it will remind..

Thanks.

Another trick (for the benefit of anyone else reading this) is to filter on metadata status, so any other images out of sync with their catelog record can be manually updated from the exported jpg.

My worry with this is that another program (eg Photo Mechanic) may have updated the jpg internal metadata in the interim and I am now importing this unknown data into my catelog, maybe completely unrelated to the metadata I originally corrected on the raw file.

It would obviously be better not to have to retrospectively correct this.

Can you please expand on "turn metadata status indicators on, it will remind.."

Best regards.

Thanks, and yeah:

Library View Options for Grid View -> Cell Icons: Unsaved Metadata

that'll give ya the up-arrow/down-arrow/conflict icons, if you don't already have them..

Ok. I just wanted to make sure you were not referring to some other option. Thanks for your assistance.

'Darn it, it is 6 years hence and still not working' .

Here are the steps to recreate the problem .

"1. Change the caption of raw photo A.ARW to X.

2. Export A.ARW to A.JPG.

3. Import A.JPG into the catalog.

4. Change the caption of A.ARW to Y.

5. Export A.ARW to A.JPG, overwriting the previous version.

6. Observe in LR that A.JPG still has caption X, not Y." ( Thanks to  John Rellis for the short version).

Comment.  I was told by Adobe at the time (and also in some forums) it was not a bug, so stopped chasing this issue.  I have my own workaround.
