P: Import is creating OS - level duplicate files named (-2) when using Devices rather than Files

Since I upgraded to lightroom classic from lightroom 5.7.1, imports are now importing duplicate images, even though I have checked don't import suspected duplicates. It happens on both my nikon and canon camera images.

COMPLETE DISASTER UPDATE!!!

Go into either Develop or Loop view.  

1) None of your info displays work. There is nothing shown to let you know the status of the image you are looking at.

2) Change the rating of the file (ie, give it a 3-star).  The bottom lineup does not reflect that new rating until you quit and relaunch LRC.  Thus, no way to see what you have already rated or still need to work on, without quoting/relaunching LRC.

3) A key plugin I use (Jeffrey Friedman’s metadata field creator) can now only reorder the fields in the info panel of LRC (lower-right  panel).  Any fields I add are no longer seen though.

4) Masks in Develop are now flaky. Sometimes they work, but other times they do not/  I haven’t figured out a pattern for that failure yet though.
