P: Library Previews not updating

This hasn't ever happened to me previously and I edit hundreds of images a day, as a wedding photographer. Has only appeared since latest update (so far as I've seen).

Edit an image in Develop mode, normally the thumbnail at the bottom would auto update with the new preview/look. It doesn't anymore. Go to Library mode to check, no, no update to the preview, it's still the old look. Force rebuild standard preview (and 1:1 preview) no effect. The Library preview will not update to the new look created in Develop mode.

Quit LR, then restart it, the preview is updated.

Even did a Sync of one process, which was converting to BW across 5 images. Four of the images changed profile to the new look, the 1st image in the group didn't. Stuck with previous old version of the look. Quit and restart LR it changed to new look.

Updates to the Adobe Photography Products were released on June 13.  Using this release we are no longer able to reproduce this error internally. Please install the update and let us know if the issue has disappeared for you as well.

If you do not see the update (Mac and Win) you can refresh your Creative Cloud App with the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Thank you for your patience.

At least four others have reported this problem. So far, no one has been able to provide a reproducible step-by-step, which will make it harder for Adobe to troubleshoot, unfortunately.

Greetings all,

I've been discussing this with the engineering team and we are trying to pin down the first version where you started to see this behavior. Was it at Max release (October) 11.0 or December 11.1?

Hello, I think the problem has persisted for a few months, so I would say from version 11.0

Among other things I have changed laptops these days and I have switched to Macbook pro 16 M1 Max, and I confirm that the same problems arise.

Lightroom Classic  11.2 downloaded 15/02/22

Windows 10 on laptop

Since the update, when I make edits in the first photo, then select more to paste the changes onto (by selecting from the thumbnails along the menu along the bottom of LR)  using the Sync option under the editing tools, it will sync the settings to about 85% of the files selected, often missing out 4 or 5 in the middle of the batch. Repeated task and does every time. Number of files selected varies from 4 to 40, tried in various combinations.  Yet, when I reselect the small batch missed and sync again, they update and match.   Sync done in Develop mode, not every option is checked.

I would expect to be able to select a number of photos and press sync button and expect all the files to match, not have some in the middle skip over.

Is this a bug?

Perhaps 5 others have reported similar symptoms with LR 11:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-sync-settings-not-applying-settings-t...

Adobe engineering is starting to pay attention:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-sync-settings-not-applying-settings-t...

It's almost certainly not affecting most users, otherwise we'd see lots more posts here.

I'm back with a follow-up. I shot a series of images to stitch for a panorama. When I went to sync the 50 NEF/RAW images a handful of random files looked very different from the preceeding ones. The exposures and ISO were the same and only seconds between shots. The white balance was Auto. I tried syncing each change separately. When I got to Basic (where dehaze and and white balance were changed) the results were inconsistant. Note the ones with extra cyan in sky.

Here are a couple images if someone can try:

@PhotoBOS, I observe the same thing with those two sample photos. But I think the issue is with the Dehaze algorithm, not Copy/Sync Settings.  I reset the two photos and manually entered 60 for Dehaze in both and got the same results.

The histograms for the two photos are very similar but not identical. It may be that the Dehaze algorithm is numerically unstable with large values for the slider -- small changes in the inputs causes large, unpredictable changes in the outputs.

I suggest you repost this in Bugs, since it's unrelated to Copy/Sync Settings.

Hi,

I am having a problem in Lightroom where I paste settings from one image to a batch of other images, but the settings are only applying to a few of them.

Example: I need to lighten the blacks in some of the images of clothing that I am processing. I apply my main develop settings to all of the images in the batch (camera profile, white balance etc.). I then work on one image to increase the exposure a bit and then lighten the shadows. I then copy that images develop settings and apply them to the rest of the shots of that items of clothing. However, only some of the images have the new develop settings applied. I am having to apply the develop settings at least twice to get it to apply to the batch of images.

I have noticed that sometimes it doesn't apply the first main develop settings as well. Does anyone know of a reason that this is happening? I thought it might be Lightroom taking its time to apply settings, being the lag fest that Lightroom is, so I have left large gaps between each step, but still the same thing is happening. This only started happing after the last update.

This bug is adding so much time to my processing that it is really beginning to impact my productivity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Neil.

When I use crop on a stack with auto sync about 5% of stacks have one or two of the images that the crop jumps a little bit,

only if I re select and resyinc the crop the rogue images jump back to place, it's a new bug from v11

i do around 100 stacks of images(around 20 in each stack) every day, I'm exporting to a focus stacking app, if one or the images isn't aligned it ruins the final image, so even a slight movement in one of the images is a big problem

i get the problem on average in one of 20 stacks...

I have 3 state of the are beefed up imacs

on all of them the same problem since V11...

attached screenshots of the issue and after I resting the crop the jump back to place

There aren't any screenshots attached.

For those photos that aren't getting a correct copy of the crop, is it the case that Sync is leaving their previous crop unchanged, or is Sync changing the crop to something not quite correct?  There is an outstanding bug that some people have experienced in which Sync doesn't update a fraction of the target photos.

I guess it's that big that a small part of images are not getting the crop sync, I'm glad it's reported, I was afraid I was the only one who noticed it... it's very frustrating with my workflow... very hard to see it happens before it causes problems in the stacking software

I have the latest version of Lightroom classic (version 11.2)

When I try to batch edit my photos, I copy all the settings from a photo and paste them to the subsequent photos and the cropping is not pasting correctly; it works for the first or second image, then the third, 4th, 5th, is cropped incorrectly, then again 7th, 8th crops correctly and so on. In the end, I'm not able to paste the exact same settings on the rest of the images.

The Adobe team has been trying to help but none has been able to find a solution: first they tried helping by chat, they couldn't, then I did a 45 min phone call, and he also couldn't help with the problem. Today I had a very patient man from Adobe help me for 2 straight hours, he also was not able to help and told me to report it as a bug.

He told me he had done everything he could (even uninstalled Lightroom and installed again) but the problem persists

There have been at least seven other reports of LR 11 not correctly copying/syncing edits to all the selected target photos, and Adobe engineering has noticed:
