P: Option plus right and left arrow keys not working in crop mode for incremental image shift.

I just upgraded my 16-inch M1 Macbook pro to Lightroom Classic 14.0.  When I go in to crop overlay mode and try to incrementally shift the image right or left using the Option key plus right or left arrow keys, nothing happens; I get an audible feedback that it is not available.  Using the up and down arrow keys with the Option key works just fine.

I'm running Sonoma 14.6.1

I've rebooted my machine and the behavior persists.

Thanks,

Scott

Any idea what the timeframe is for this being fixed? It's a function I use all the time, so have had to rollback to v13 until I know it works in v14.

@Oliver Andrews: "Any idea what the timeframe is for this being fixed?"

Adobe rarely commits to when/if bugs will be fixed.

Adobe usually releases a new version of LR about every 8 weeks (not counting emergency patch releases like 14.0.1).  LR 14 came out October 14, so  we might expect to see 14.1 the week of December 9, plus or minus.

I think the problem with Option Left/Right Arrow is that LR 14 also assigned those shortcuts to Previous / Next Variation in the Remove tool. In theory, there's no conflict in having the same shortcut assigned to different tools/modes/modules -- there are a number of shortcuts like that.  But as Adobe has assigned shortcuts to the Remove and Masking tools, similar implementation issues have arisen and usually fixed in later releases:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-command-option-o-masking-panel-kbsc-can-conf...

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-cmd-option-o-ctrl-alt-o-assigned-to-both-pre...

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-duplicate-assignment-of-shift-z-to-new-depth...

In this case, the team might apparently overlooked the use of Option Left/Right Arrow for nudging crops.  It's not documented in Adobe's list of shortcuts (which has always been incomplete and isn't well-maintained), it's not (yet) in the more comprehensive and better-maintained Lightroom Queen list (reflected in my Any Shortcut plugin), nor does it appear in the TranslatedStrings files that record nearly all LR shortcuts.

Meanwhile, if you find yourself wanting to upgrade to LR 14 before the bug is fixed, as a workaround you could use the Any Crop plugin's Adjust command to do fine adjustments on crops (including while zoomed in). But it's not nearly as convenient as having that functionality built-in.

Thanks for the suggestions @John R Ellis, I'll probably just stay on v13 for now. Did want to try out Content Credentials in v14 export but I guess that'll have to wait.

I noticed this shortcut wasn't in the list when I went to see if it had been moved to some other keys and was initially wondering if it had been intentionally removed, didn't know it had never been there. At least it's been acknowledged as a bug, and it does still work on Windows, so hopefully wont be waiting too long for a fix on Mac.

I use this shortcut to make small (+/- 1) adjsutments to tint but it has suddenly stopped working when I upgraded to v14. Only the up/down arrow keys are working after pressing [W] which only adjusts the temperature.

As another option IIRC (can't check just now) after putting the keyboard focus onto the WB Temp, you can then shift that keyboard focus vertically between the various Basic panel adjustments, using the [dot] and [comma] keys - hope I have that right!

Alternatively the Quick Develop panel in Library might be something to consider, since this can apply the same relative Tint adjustment onto multiple highlighted photos even though their starting Tint values may differ.

Looks like this bug was caused by LR 14 assigning Opt Left and Opt Right to the Remove tool's Previous and Next Variation. See here for more details:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-option-plus-right-and-left-arrow-keys-not-wo...

As with nudging the crop, using Opt to do small increments and decrements of sliders has been undocumented, and using the arrow keys in the White Balance tool is also undocumented. This likely accounts for why the bug wasn't caught during testing.

With the recent update to 14.0.1 -- the "Alt/Option + Arrow" for small incremental increases/decreases (+1,-1) in Tint is not working. However, the small increments for Temp still works. Is this a bug?

Do you mean [Opt]+[+] or Opt+[-] instead?  That moves in increments of 1.  Without the [Opt] key, it moves 5.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography, there are arrow-key shortcuts I didn't know about and aren't documented either in the Adobe help or in the Lightroom Queen shortcut list, but clearly others know about these. For all of them, Shift increases the adjustment and Opt decreases it.

White Balance tool (when you've clicked the eye dropper or typed "W"):

Up/Down adjusts Temp by 50. Shift Up/Down by 200. Opt Up/Down by 5.

Left/Right adjusts Tint by 5. Shift Left/Right by 20. Opt Left/Right by 1.

Crop tool:

Up/Down/Left/Right moves the crop some. Shift Up/Down/Left/Right by 10x that amount. Opt Up/Down/Left/Right by 0.1x that amount.

Basic sliders:

-/= moves the slider by 5. Shift -/= moves the slider by 20. Opt -/= moves the slider by 1.

(-/= and Shift -/= are documented.)

All of these worked in LR 13 and earlier, and they continue to work in LR 14 except for Opt Left/Right, which got broken by the addition of Opt Left/Right for Remove's Previous and Next Variation. None of these appear in TranslatedStrings.
