This bug has been outstanding for many years.  Workarounds:

1. Set Preferences > Interface > Font Size to Automatic and the Windows Display Settings > Scale And Layout to 100%.   Dragging photos to the map and the Develop eye dropper then become accurate for most people. But if the fonts are now too small, adjust the Windows Display Settings scaling, not the font size in LR.  (That works for some but not all people.)

It's been at least nine years now (as of 2025), is there a fix in sight?

@flashtastic1500: "is there a fix in sight?

Adobe rarely indicates when/if a bug might be fixed. Given how long the Map bugs have been outstanding, it seems unlikely they will fix them.

Issue:
When placing images on the map in the Map Module, the assigned location is incorrect. The images appear at a different position than where they were dropped.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Lightroom Classic 14.5.1
  2. Go to the Map Module
  3. Drag and drop one or more images onto the map
  4. Observe the assigned position

Expected Result:
The images should be assigned exactly to the location where they were dropped on the map.

Actual Result:
The images are assigned to a different location than the intended one.

System Information:

  • Lightroom Classic version: 14.5.1

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Super, Studio Driver 577.00 (July 22, 2025)

  • Display: 3840×2160 resolution, scaling set to 125%

This bug occurs with Windows display scaling set to other than 100%. It's been present for 9 years, so Adobe has evidently decided not to fix it. See here for usable workarounds:
