P: Print module list of page sizes doesn't update

Community Beginner ,
Mar 12, 2024 Mar 12, 2024

In Lightroom Classic's Print Module, the Page Setup pop-up menu that lets me select a paper page size no longer changes when I switch printers. This used to work (I have been printing in LR for years) and I can still print to the printers. I just can't tell LR the page size I want.

I have no issues in other apps (PS, QImage, etc) which correctly show me the list of supported pages sizes. Indeed, LR seems to know about the options as the "Printer..." dialog has a Scale to fit paper size option that is correct. It just looks like the Page Setup list of print sizes never gets updated and stays on the "Any Printer" default list.

I'm on a recent Macbook Pro M3 running current Sonoma (14.4) , latest version of LR (I tried deleting, re-installing, installing prio version, rebooting laptop, updated print driver, and anything else I could think of to no avail). Main printer I use is a Canon Pro 100, but same issue on another printer. And as I say, PS (etc) has no issues.

I can partially get around this with custom page sizes, but I can't trick the printer into doing borderless prints that way.

Thanks in advance for ideas.

9/23/24 - I experienced this "Print module list of page sizes doesn't update" problem back in March 2024 and again now in September on both macOS 14.7 and 15.0.

Screenshot 2024-09-23 at 16.48.47.png

I'm on a MacBook Pro M1 running 15.0, with Adobe LrC 13.5.1.

I had to go into Adobe Ps 25.12.0 to print at 11"x17" to finish my job.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, Apple broke a few things in the print settings and page sizes (AGAIN). I was able to crash out of LrC reliably by going into Page Setup and then Print Settings.

FWIW, it is fixed again in MacOS 15.1 public beta.

PS and Epson Print Layout (if that applies to you) both work in 15.0

Well, regrettably, upgrading to Sequoia 15.1 did not fix the LrC 14.0.1 problem of not displaying all paper sizes as hoped for with the earlier post about 15.1 beta.

Thoughts?

Best regards,

Hello Keylor,

Try uninstalling and re-installing your printer driver. Restart your Mac in between the uninstall and re-install. This worked for me. All the print sizes for my Epson printer are now available again in LrC, as are all the default printer paper profiles.

Same problem, tried uinstalling/installing printer driver twice, both with and without reboot. No change, same problem. Running Sequioa 15.0.1 and LrC 14.1.1. Any news on this case, or other possible solutions?

Recent update to Sequoia 15.2 issued by Apple seemed to have solved the problem. Installed the update and my printer was showing in the page setup tab in the print module, with all sizes available.

Didn´t work that well after all. Page setup now shows my printer (Epson SC-P900) and all paper sizes. Howewer in print settings --> Paper Handling --> Destination paper size my settings always jumps back to a standard. I have been able to change this a couple of times, not sure how, but currently it is stuck at 13x19". This of course overrides what is set in the page setup window and makes printing impossible (except if the "stuck" size is what you are after). For now i have given up, and reverted to using an old iMac with older osx for printing.

By chance I happen to be at my desk on a snowy New Year's day running various LRC printing exercises. Everything is working regarding paper sizes as I switch from 5x7 to letter to 13x19. .  I canot replicate your sequence of windows Paper Handling --> Destination paper size. In my dialog box it goes from Print Handling to Scale Paper Size to Destination and I do not use paper Size Scaling.  MacMini M2 pro, Mac os 15.2, LRC 14.1.1, EPSON SC P600.

Thank you for responding. The problem persists on my computer, running Sequoia 15.2 and LrC 14.1.1. When i change the paper size from A3+ in the window in the screenshot to lets say A2, press save, then open the print settings window again it is stills saying A3+. In the "Printer" window to the far right it is the same case, and even if I press print from this window having set the correct paper size it prints wrong with the stuck setting of A3+.

Tried removing the printer driver and reinstalling after rebooting several times. Does this sound like a lightroom or osx bug?

I'm not quite sure of the sequence of steps you use. I set print size in the Page Setup dialog box, then the same paper size is indicated in the Print Setting / Paper Handling box whether or not scaling is chosen.

I finally got it to change by toggling off en then on "scale to fit paper size" in the print settings / paper handling window. Before, i used the same procedure as you, but paper size always reverted back to A3+ in the print settings / paper handling window.

I'm not a geek so...

I printed yesterday with LRC from an M1 mac to an Epson 3880 and the loss of printer settings made things annoying. This morning I began a printing session, having turned on the printer and then openned the printer settings panel only to find my previous settings had been retained. Well, alright I thought. But sending the image to the printer did nothing. I had disconnected the printer from the computer and forgotten to plug it back in. The instant I connected the two, the previous settings disappeared.

With my limited knowledge of computers I can't say anything specifically, but to me this appears to be an Apple messup.
