P: Transform [Update] button stops working after application of [Previous]

After updating LR Classic to version 14.3, the "update" button in the Transform panel stopped working after using the settings from the previous photo. Transform remains wrong even after selecting a different option (vertical instead of auto, etc.) and the Update button remains white.

MacOS 15.4.1, LRC 14.3

Thanks.  Learning my way around here.  🙂

The 'Update' button under Transform when having a preset of either 'Auto' or 'Vertical' doesn't function for me after this update.  I provided a photo in a duplicate post (not giving me the option here).  When clicking 'Update' it would 'fix' any slight off-balance the photo may have, and straighten the vertical lines.  Make sense?

Don't see my reply here any longer, so giving it another go:

The 'Update' feature under 'Transform' seems to have been 'unplugged' with this update.  Would appreciate a prompt fix.  It is used often to straighten vertical lines.

This update messed up the 'Update' feature in the 'Transform' category to straighten vertical lines.  Need that fixed asap, as it's critical to the photography I provide clients.

@OBXErskine

Can you please explain what is messed up? Please provide step-by-step instructions how to get the problem to appear. I am not seeing any problem on my Windows 11 PC, LrC 14.3

In the most recent update to Lightroom Classic (14.2) I am unable to update the file after making a lens distorton adjustment. I have reverted to the previous version to temporarily solve this problem. Please advise . Thanks so much.

Please explain what you mean with "I am unable to update the file".

When I correct lens distortion in Lightroom you have to "update" the correction to reflect the change. There is a "update" button to press. When I press the "Update" button it does nothing.

@ondrejb47127146  Thank you for the report and @johnrellis  thank you for the reproduction instructions.

I've logged this with the team.

Same. Only happens after you paste "previous" edits though. Doesn't happen if you only paste other panels settings, of if you paste nothing at all. Hoping for a quick fix.

Using your instructions, I am not able to replicate what you are seeing. I am not certain I have your reproduction steps absolutely correct either.

Can you provide more detailed step-by-step instructions for reproducing this?

Edit the first photo to taste and use "auto transform", then go to the next photo and press the "Previous" button to apply the same edits. The transformation needs to be updated to accommodate the second image, but it's not working now (would be perfect to automate this like AI masks).

The update button stays white, each transformation looks wrong, as if LR took the values from the previous image after selecting a different transformation option (level, full,...)

I selected two images with different tilt to see the effect - the second image can't be automatically flattened, after using the settings from the previous one, only turning off the manual or the wizard works.

I observe the same misbehavior in 14.3 / Mac OS 15.3.2, whereas LR 14.2 behaves correctly. Precise steps for reproducing the problem:

1. Download and open this catalog, which contains two photos:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/50fftiuluo6eneyip2ub9/previous-transform-auto.2025-04-24.zip?rlkey=a97855j1pmqqjbyz3w1rqdr1e&dl=0

2. Select the Quick Collection.

3. Open 1.jpg in Develop.

4. Click Transform > Auto.

5. Move to the next photo, 2.jpg.

6. Click Previous.

7. Observe that Transform > Auto has been selected (correct) and that 2.jpg is tilted nearly as much as 1.jpg (correct).

8. Click the Update button and observe no change in the photo (incorrect).

9. Click Reset and then Transform > Auto. Observe a very small change in the photo (correct) that doesn't match the result of Previous followed by Update  in step 8 (incorrect).

10. Repeat steps 1 - 9 with LR 14.2.  Observe that at step 8, clicking Update produces the same result as clicking Reset followed by Transform > Auto (correct).

Screen recordings of the steps with LR 14.2 and 14.3 are attached.
