Hello, I have a problem with export my pictures after update Adobe Lightroom classic catalog. I´m not using watermark. So, I can´t understand this failer error. Can anybody help me please?
Lightroom 12.0.1 was released today and contains a fix for this issue. Please refresh your Adobe Creative Cloud App ([Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ]) and download the updated version.
This method of resetting preferenced did not work. I am so frustrated since I never use watermarking ever. And now I cannot export my work because of this glitch.
I want to have the old version back so I can get my work done.

There are three workarounds posted here (none of which work for everyone):
- Reset preferences.
- Delete all existing watermark presets (even if you don't use watermarks).
- Create a new dummy text watermark and set opacity to 0%. Export a photo with that watermark. Then you should be able to export without a watermark.
Have you tried all three methods? The first two workarounds are described in the correct answer at the top of this thread.
You can roll back to LR 11.5, though you won't be able to easily access any changes you've made in your LR 12 catalog since you upgraded (since LR 12 copied and upgraded your LR 11 catalog, and LR 11 can't read LR 12 catalogs).
Hi, I've just updated to Lightroom v12 and now I got an error message when exporting : "unable to export: watermark failed". I'm on macOS Monterey. Thanks for your help !
Thank you! [Create a new dummy text watermark and set opacity to 0%. Export a photo with that watermark. Then you should be able to export without a watermark.]
Either create a watermark with 0% opacity and export with that watermark or save the metadata from LRC and import the RAWs into ARC in Photoshop and save them from Photoshop (the edits in LRC carry over via the metadata)
Nach einer automatischen Aktualisierung von Lightroom erscheint beim Export von Dateien, und zwar unabhängig davon, ob ich bei "Wasserzeichen" ein Häkchen setze oder nicht, die Fehlermeldung
have exactly the same problem , but could not make the suggested solutions to work e.g. can not find the file "com.adobe.LightroomClassicCC7.plist" (maps are shown after doing Go>Library in Finder, but the requested file is not one of them). Same is true for the file containing the watermark information (possible solution suggested by johnrellis.
This is realy annoying as i'm exporting all the time (as most of us do i guess). Any further help?

"can not find the file "com.adobe.LightroomClassicCC7.plist" (maps are shown after doing Go>Library in Finder, but the requested file is not one of them)."
As described in the help article referred to above, the preferences are stored in /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences, not in /Users/[user name]/Library:
Are you not seeing the Preferences subfolder after doing Go > Library in Finder? If not, please post a screenshot of the Finder window after doing Go > Library and scrolling to show all subfolders whose names start with "P", e.g.:
running latest version of LR classic on Mac OS..an trying to export photos for a client but *can't*, even though watermark is unchecked in the export preferences. Tried deleting a few watermarks (is there a limit?) that did not work. So will have to try resetting preferences so I can get the client their photos. BTW the method for deleting watermarks is amazingly non-intuitive. Who designed that?
Update: reset preferences in LRC, restarted, still can't export, same error message. BTW several weeks ago, seems like after an update, some of my watermark images started not showing up in the 'select watermark' dialog. In other words the named drop down was still listed in the dropdown, but did not show in the example with the dotted line around it. The image file was still there in the same location. Seems like a link to the image was broken. When I tried repairning the link that did not work either, so would have to create a brand new one. But now I simply can't export. Guess I'll have to try and just delete all watermarks and see if that resolves it. Will then have to rebuild them.
update: this workaround worked for me at least for now, you just need to ensure after creation of the new watermark you make sure it is checked in the export dialog box. https://youtu.be/84DcwYtaeOU as stated earlier resetting my preferences did not help.
Lightroom can't export my photos all of a sudden. Getting a notification that watermark is not included and the photos can't export. I am not even including a watermark or change anything in my export settings. It happened while my computer died while exporting a batch.
Can anybody help me? I have Lightroom Classic 12.0
I had exactly this. Go on the live chat. I took screen shots of the error message and included them in to the message and he was able to take over my pc and fix the bug! When you update your LRC to the new version it came with a bug apparently so let them fix it! Head to Adobe website and click the live chat as you won’t be able to fix this yourself
It ended up failing me in the end. It is a quick fix but try contacting live chat they were super helpful and they fixed the problem for good. I think they went into the Adobe file on my pc and found the watermark folder and all they did was re- name it to watermark.123 and it was fixed! All it was, was changing the name to the watermark file on your pc if you can’t do this yourself chat with them.
"as you won’t be able to fix this yourself ... I think they went into the Adobe file on my pc and found the watermark folder and all they did was re- name it to watermark.123 and it was fixed!"
That's essentially the same as the second workaround posted in the "correct answer" at the top of this thread -- delete all the existing watermarks. Unfortunately, there are at least a few who have reported that this isn't sufficient and they have to reset LR's preferences (the first workaround at the top of this thread). Both workarounds are easy for anyone to do by carefully following the instructions.
