My W10 machine needed replacing so have a new W11 PC.
Trying to install LR 6.1.4
I'm hoping we have someone knowledgeable on re-installs.
I have my Serial Number
I have installed AAM v10
I have the 6.1.4 installer
I have in D:\Pictures\Lightroom from my previous PC the Lightoom folder contents including the lightroom.lrcat file
I start the installer, it goes OK then comes to the input serial number window .... put that in, it then brings up the attached window It is a valid license but no valid product code.
I have a previous exchange with Adobe support ... my license key was for Adobe 5, but I had bought from them an upgrade to upgrade to 6 ... at that time, the response was 'Select LR5 as the product but its OK your installer will install 6'
If I select 5 it won't accept it.
Anybody know how I can get LR6 working on my new PC ?
I know Adobe Servers no longer support 6 ... but can I install as a standalone ?
I still have access to old PC
I appreciate Cloud subscriptions are preferred, but being retired its not something I can justify

Did you try to enter the serial number for LR 5?
If you can't find it, you might be able to retrieve it from your old computer.
And have you deactivated LR 6 on the old computer?

My LR is still running on old PC, won't delete untill working on new PC
On a previous re-install issue (couple of year ago) Adobe support advise then to use LR6 install file but when it came to product choice choose LR5 .... but it does not allow that now

I don't understand what Adobe told you, it makes no sense.
If you install LR 6, you cannot choose LR 5 – but if you bought an upgrade from LR 5 to LR 6, you have to enter the serial number for LR 5 to verify that you own a qualifying product.
So did you try to enter the LR 5 serial number in the dialog you posted a screenshot of ?

What exactly do you mean by "will not allow me"? Please provide details.
If you have LR 5 installed on your old computer, or if it was installed previously, use the File explorer to go to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom
In this folder there should be a file that contains the serial number for LR 5. (can't remember the file name)
Open the file in a plain text editor, like Notepad.
Before you uninstall LR 6 on the old computer, you must deactivate it. Help > Deactivate.
You are allowed two activations, and Adobe will no longer reset the activation count manually.
If you have already used two activations, it's crucial that you deactivate on the old computer.
If you don't, you probably won't be able to use LR 6 on the new computer.
LR 5 didn't use activation, only serial number.

I looked on My Adobe account it says I have No activations
It also confirms my serial number for LR 6

I get as far as the screen grab posted in the OP, and can't go any further.
There is no LR 6 to select and if I select 5 it advises not valid

Your screenshot shows that you have already entered a valid serial number for LR 6.
You are now meant to select LR 5 under Previous version, and then enter the serial number for LR 5, not the one for LR 6.
If you don't have the LR 5 serial number, follow the instructions I gave you earlier to retrieve it from your old computer.
(assuming that LR 5 has been installed on this computer)
Also, if you registered LR 5 with Adobe, the serial number can be found in your account.

I have logged into My Adobe account ... it only shows a V6 serial number
If I deactivate it on old PC .. I will then have no LR working at all ... seem s high risk
\Ther
I went to the location you said ... C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Lightroom
That folder is empty
LR 6 is running on that PC so is installed & active
I I go to :
C:\users\name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom
There are folders for
6.0, 6.7, 6.8, 6.13, and 6.14 nothing for 5.0

Well, your license for LR 6 is an upgrade from a previous version, and you will need to enter the serial number for that previous version to be able to install.
Activation happens after installing, so there is no need to deactivate on your old computer unless you have to.
If activation is successful on the new computer, and you don't plan to use your old computer, you can deactivate LR 6 on that, which will free up one activation for future use.
Note that Adobe is making it more and and more difficult to use old software.
Activation servers for Creative Suite 1 - 4 have been shut down, and it is probably only a matter of time before you cannot activate LR 6 as well.

To help clarify - repeated teh steps again today.
Pre-requistes – I have AAM v10
I have Lightroom V6 installer Lightroom_6_LS11
I have my Adobe folder in pictures folder with Lightroom.lrcat file in place
I have my valid LR6 serial No (confirmed in My Adobe Account)
I install AAM 10
I run 6.1 installer
Starts – unpacks
Asks me to choose install or trial
select install
Open window for me to enter Serial number
I enter, it advises valid serial number but wrong product
It then gives attached screen garb, where it asks me to select product.
There is no option of LR6
If I select LR5 it tells me its not a qualifying product
I can’t proceed past this point

As stated above by @Per Berntsen , you must enter, at this point, a serial number for a previous version of Lightroom (Lr 1, Lr 2, Lr 3, Lr 4 or Lr 5). Your Lr 6 serial number will not work here, as you have seen. Once you enter the proper serial number from earlier versions of Lr, then it will ask for your Lr 6 serial number. If you can't find the serial number for earlier versions of Lr, then I think you need to search your PC for it, also as explained by @Per Berntsen . There is also a program for Windows computers called Belarc Advisor, which ought to be able to find serial numbers for all of your software that is installed, and maybe even some that are no longer installed.
If none of that is successful, that I believe you are out of luck and cannot install Lr 6 again.

If I have any Adobe valid licenses .. wouldn't they show up in My Adobe ?
I'l try Belarc Advisor see what that turns up

Just run Belarc ... only lists Adobe V6
Is there any way of activating this ..... otherwise I'll have to go and buy another product (can't afford a subscription)

If you bought it from somewhere other than Adobe, you would have to register the software with Adobe, a step that many people skip.
But as long as we are discussing this, let me explain how I keep track of my serial numbers (not just Lightroom but all software) in case this might be helpful to you and others in the future. I put them in a text file, which I store on my computer and a copy is stored in the cloud, so I can always find my serial numbers at any point in the future. I recommend you do the same from now on.

RESOLVED - it's working again
I managed by searching old emails to find a Serial Number for V5 from 2014
For anybody else the steps were -
Download and install AAM
https://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe//creativesuite/cc/win/ApplicationManager10.0_all.exe
Re-install Lightroom folder … mine was D:\Pictures\Lightroom
This has the catalogue file Lightroom.lrcat
Download Lightroom 6.1 installer package .. I got it from https://web.archive.org/web/20231220005239mp_/https://prdl-download.adobe.com/Lightroom/60BA1251F1BC...
Start installer
When it asks for Serial No. > enter V6 serial number > proceed
It then fails advising a valid serial number, but no qualifying product could be found.
In drop down select LR 5
Enter LR5 serial number
Install proceeds
It installs as V6.1.4
All images are there in library.
A lot of ghosted images on Desktop etc., that is just clean up as its on a new PC
