Best way to transfer 12,000 photos from my iPhone to Lightroom Classic on my desktop

I have just returned from a month at the Kumbh Mela in India. I have 12,000 photos on my iPhone that I want to import to an external drive and Lightroom Classic on my desktop. I do not have the cloud-based version, not do I want it.

 

Last time I tried this, about six months ago it was a disaster!

Connecting my iPhone to my computer/external drive with a cord does not allow me to complete the transfer. There doesn't seem to be enough power to do it. Not sure if it's the cord, or something else.

The best solution I could come up with last time was transferring everything from my phone to a SanDisk iXpand Drive thumb drive and from there to the external drive and into LR.

Unfortunately the SanDisk drive does not keep the photos in any order so it was just a random mess!

Please give me a solution to transfer 12,000 iPhone photos to my computer/external drive/LR that works.

I have been afraid to try but I finally connected my iPhone to my computer and set up an Import for over 12,000 photos to an external hard drive using Lightroom.I have tried this before and it did not work but my old cord fried at the Kumbh Mela, (maybe even earlier it had some issues which caused my previous import problem?) so I got a new cord in India which seems very sturdy.I've had a blank screen with "copy and import photos" dialog for about 45 minutes now with not even one photo showing up in the folder where it's supposed to go.I have been waiting in the hope that something would happen eventually but I am going to quit soon.
How can I get these images into my hard drive and Lightroom Desktop?

If they are all backed up to your icloud, then you could send yourself an icloud link and download them to your computer.

You can plugin in the iPhone directly to the Mac & import directly; this method may be restricted by speed due to the hardware used. You can make sure the iThe phone has the Mac as a trusted device: https://adobe.ly/3X0WtF4

 

You can also use AirDrop to send all the files to the Downloads folder as suggested here: https://adobe.ly/4hYIibp;
