Both LR Classic and LR6 quit without opening

iMac OS 12.5.1

LR6 (6.14) still using on and off

LRClassic desktop 12.4 installed 14 June 2023.

BOTH of these applications quit without opening (see below for update after trying community suggestions).  I haven't changed anything on LR6 since the last upgrade in 2018 I think.  When I updated LR Classic, I had read in LR Queen to turn on the GPU which I did.  It is the only thing I can think of that might affect both programs at the same time. I beleive there was also a message when upgrading to upgrade the catalog at the same time which I did.   However, looking at the console crash report both say Termination Reason Code 1 Library missing. I can not open either to change anything in preferences or turn off the GPU.  I have tried all suggestions I could find on this support community for trying to open these programs. I even tried opening via .Icrat file.  Why are both LR6 and LRClassic responding in the same manner?  Is there anything I can do besides uninstall and reinstall LR Classic?  And how to deal with LR6? Another complication is that all the things I tried to make LR open has led to not getting the "LR quit unexpectedly" message., Now just nothing happening no quit unexpectedly or crash report.  The console crash reports are from before I tried all the possible recommendations.  Thank you in advance for any help.

I only used LR6 for quick edits when I want to share an iphone photo on social media.  I didn't want to crowd my LR Classic and external drives with misc photos.  Anyway, I do have a system backup that will take me back to before this problem, but I don't think it is worth going that route.  I will probably Reinstall LR classic.  It is annoying that this virus software considered an exe file from authorised software as malware.   It has failed to find real attemps at virus attacks through doggy emails.  The virus software becomes a virus.  Thanks again.

There is a happy ending after all.  Mac allows individual applications to be restored from Time Machine backups.  Luckily I did a back up before I updated the Intego software so I have now restored both Lightroom Classis and LR6.  You beauty! So for any other poor unfortunates that have this problem, please check your Intego VirusBarrier log where you will see that VirusBarrier considers Lightroom Classic Malware (Only since recent update to version 9.75) and doesn't necessarily hold the exe file in  the quaratine tab.   Thank you Rob and everyone else who made an effort to help me. Cheers

The Anti Virus software is probably the problem.  At the end of the discussion you linked, the solution was Intego Virus Barrier was blocking Wichita Foundation files.  However, even after turning off the Intego, Lightroom will not launch.  Something happened with all the methods I tried to make it run.  I don't know if I have a solution now or a bigger problem. All my permissions were already read write.  I don't know what to do now.

I have now uninstalled the Intego software, but LR still won't open. I think Intego has somehow bumped the Wichita exe file.  Is there a way to add it back?  I'd like to have the application working before I update.  Thanks for finding that discussion Rob.

The fact that BOTH quit suggests to me that something might be amiss with the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App as both Lr6 and LrC are 'under the control' of the Desktop App where you must be signed in.

Is the Desktop App functioning and up to date?

Do you know where your Catalogs are located? And are they available to Mac Finder?

Also can you post screen-clips of the message- "Library is missing" .

"How can I back up the catalogue when I can not open the application?"- Use Mac Finder.

One of the things I tried was signing out and signing back into CC. Doesn't CC update itself? When I open the desktop app it shows all the apps I have purchased.   BTW, Photoshop still opens for me if that is relavent. I can see my catalogues in Finder.  There was one suggestion on the community to open through the .Ircat file but that doesn't work for me. Below is the crash report for LR classic.  LR6 gives the same report.  I will uninstall if needs be, but it involves a lot of effort.  So before I do, I would like to know if the problem will rear its ugly head again with the new installation.  Thank you for your help. Below is the crash report. I am in Australia so replies may be delayed.   I just noticed something below about Witchita Foundation.  What the heck is that and what has that got to do with my Library?

I can open Photoshop through the CC desktop app but LR won't open.

Part 2

What are the exact (a screen capture might help) error messages?

I cannot replicate the message any longer as after all the suggestions to get LR to open that I tried resulted in the message no longer showing up.  It did say Lightroom "quit unexpectedly" as soon as I tried to open either application.  Now it is the console crash report that is a worry.  Notice the line after "Library Not Loaded" .  What has the Witchita Foundation to do with Lightroom?  I never heard of them.  Is this a virus?

"@executable_path/../Frameworks/WichitaFoundation.agtoolkit/Versions/A/WichitaFoundation'

Sounds like an issue with WichitaFoundation.agtoolkit

A Google search on WichitaFoundation.agtoolkit, might give some clues. Wichita Foundation.agtoolkit might need to be re-installed (not sure if this is via Adobe, Apple, or wherever)

There is nothing to be gained by continuing to run Lr6 (the old perpetual version)- Un-install Lr6 (see 'Cleaner' link below). v12.5 does everything and more.

(Catalogs used in Lr-Classic cannot be 'opened' in Lr6.)

My suggestion is to -

1) Backup your Catalogs. Backup your photos,

2) Run the Cleaner Tool- CLEANER TOOL LINK

3) Re-Install Lightroom-Classic

You must be Signed-In with the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App to activate Adobe Apps in your subscription.

I never said I tried to open my classic catalogue in LR6. I have seperate catalogues for each.
It was the fact that both versions decided to "quit unexpectedly" when opening at the same point in time. I thought that might be a clue as to what may have triggered this problem.
How can I back up the catalogue when I can not open the application? I usually back up at exiting anyway so I am not concerned about that. The whole point of my query is that I cannot open either application with their own catalogues and I would like to know what went wrong.
I have most of my photos on seperate hard discs.

In addition to the above. In the crash report from console it states the reason for Termination is that the Library is missing.
Where did it go? They were both there last time I used the applications not long ago.
