Bug in lens profile: SONY (TAMRON 28-75mm F_2.8 Di III RXD A036)

Problems using:
SONY (TAMRON 28-75mm F_2.8 Di III RXD A036) - RAW.lcp

Windows 10 Pro, Lightroom Classic.

My LR kneels because of lagging or stuttering of tools when I use this lens profile. Everything is slow.

I moved profile out of: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\Tamron\Sony

And LR is good to go now.

I also compared to my Fujifilm system, Nikon, etc, and this is the only lens/profiles I have problems with. It is really noticable. The programs performance drops completely when the profile is active and you are in Develope module.

Even deactivate lens corrections in LR doesn't help as much as moving the actual file out of the directory.

Most likely a corrupt profile.

Aleksander

Just a thought the Adobe list of supported lenses shows that lens profile as specific to Sony FE mount. Are the RAW files from a Sony Camera with the FE Mount?

Is the lens profiled by Adobe Lightroom or is it a user or third party profile?

@DdeGannes@johnrellis

I forgot to include the benchmark. Here is the result with lens corrections enabled and Sony A7iii with Zeiss Batis 18mm F2:

No such lagg. All functions in LR is fast and not glitchy at all.

Interesting. With your sample Sony A7 III photo and others downloaded from dpreview.com, I don't see any lag in the tools, either on my LR 10.4 Mac OS configuration or on my Windows 10 configuration (which doesn't have a LR-compatible GPU).  That suggests there's something specific to your configuration (or similar configurations) that's causing this.

As a quickie experiment, try setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off. Do you still see the same issues?

If you upload a sample .arw using that lens to Dropbox or similar and post the sharing link here, we can see if the problem occurs with other LR configurations or is specific to yours, which will help narrow down the problem and perhaps suggest a solution.

Sorry, I should have prepared better, but I think and hope this post will correct that.

Here is my Jottacloud link, RAW file and LCP from Adobe in the folders. Feel free to distribute the RAW file to technicians/Adobe if thats needed, it's only a test shot.

Here is one of the many things that lags in Lightroom if the lens profile is active or present in the folder. Mind you it's not only linear gradient, radial gradient, etc that laggs, it is everything when I'm working on a image shot with this exact lens on the Sony.

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\Tamron\Sony"

If I not only disable the profile but also removes it from the Adobe directories, then every function in LR seem more snappier in Develope module.

@DdeGannesThis is the lens profile which came installed with Lightroom 10.4 (current) and previous versions. I've had months(?) trying to find out what makes this lagg. What is quite funny is that I can "steal" the one made for Nikon, rename first letters to Sony, and it has no problems like the Sony variant of the same adjustment. So it is a issue with this exact Sony file.

@DdeGannes

And yes, the RAW file is shot with Sony A7iii (FE) and Tamron's FE version.

I hope this helps. I have huge issues with this lens corrections, slowing down all functions in LR considerably. I think Adobe have to look in to this.

My computer in case you suggest it can be hardware related (it is not).

AMD Threadripper 1920x 12 core 4ghz

32gb ram, 3000mhz

Asus 1080 Ti, 11gb VRAM

NVMe SSDs all over the place.

System fresh installed a couple weeks ago, same problem before/after, so I know it is not a random error since I had to download and install Lightroom from scratch.

I also have to mention that I have many camera systems and lenses, this is the only singular lens that I've had problems with for years in Lightroom. No other lens profiles or cameras do this to my Lightroom.

Best regards,

Aleksander
