Can I use a recent Lightroom Backup to recover missing keywords?

Today, Somehow, the keywords for 20+ year (45000 images) of whales, dolphins, and pelagic birds have disappered.  It's happened before and I ws able to reover by , but not today.  I have a lightroom backup from 2 days ago, if I use that, I believe that the missing keywords (thes help me to identify 600+ humpbaks and 200+ finback whales) will b e recovered.  Is that an accurate assessment?

Yes. Keywords are stored in the catalog, so you should be able to retrieve them by using a catalog backup.

PLEASE HELP!

Something like this has happened before ( a few weeks ago) and I was able to recover the keywords by shutting down lightroom, restarting my computer and having chnaged the name of the XXXHelper.lrdata file.

Didn't work this time. I stopped synching the catalog because keywords began to disappear there too. I have 23 years of data sored in those keywords.  Please help
